Chapter Two...

Dylan's P.O.V

Garrett and I continued home in complete silence, that was until we hit the house. I was the one who broke the silence. "Listen Garrett do not tell your mom or anybody about that girl okay?" He didn't answer me which made me a little confused and headed into the house. I grabbed the bags and followed him into the kitchen and saw everyone sitting at the kitchen table. My mother and my two brothers. Garrett's mother must be sleeping.

"Okay now that everyone's here I have an announcement to make." Garrett said and I dropped the groceries on the counter and tapped his shoulder angrily.

"Garrett, I asked you not to." He only smiled and turned back to the family who had their eyebrows raised in question.

"Well, anyway, I am getting and A in math." He announced and my mother clapped, my brothers smiled, and I sighed in relief.

"That a boy Garrett!" My brother Derek cheered. He was the middle child who was an always happy firerfighter and also in love with Garrett's mom, but we didn't mention that too often because the always happy man would instantly become angry. And when he was angry he was like the damn hulk.

I looked to the left of Derek and saw Dean, the youngest, who although was paying attention to Garrett, was more interested in the car part that sat before him. Dean was a teacher and an awesome mechanic, and unlike the rest of the family was quiet and became angered easily. Especially after our father died.

"Also Dylan is in love!" Garrett yelled knocking me out of thought and instead glaring at him.

"Garrett, you little sh-"

"DYLAN MICHAEL BARKLEY!" My mother cut me off and I stared down at Garrett who had a grin on his face. If I didn't love the guy so much I would of killed him already. "Garrett, go watch T.V."

"Yes, Mrs. Barkley." Garrett sighed and walked through the doors and into the living room.

"So, tell us about her." Derek said with a smartass grin.

"I don't have to tell you anything." I said and crossed my arms.

"Derek stop agitating your brother." My mother scolded with an annoyed sigh as she ran a hand through her grayish hair. "It's like you boys are kids again I swear!" She said turning back to the sink and dried the dishes in the sink. I gave my brother a dirty look before standing next to my mother and giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Mom what's wrong?" I asked concerned.

"Just tired, you boys are driving me insane. By the way Dynasty's stall needs cleaned, Derek." I heard him groan while Dean snickered. "You too Dean. Get going before I throw you boys out for your own dinner." They both ran out the door and I was headed out too until mom grabbed my arm stopping me. "Not you. You sit." I put my hands up in defeat and sat at the table, my mom sat across from me. She gave me the look that she use to give me in highschool when I came home late. "Where did you meet her?" She asked as she crossed her legs.

"On duty." She raised an eyebrow.

"On duty? Were you arresting her?" I shrugged.

"Sort of." She shook her head. "Listen mom I don't really want to talk about this."

"Well that's too bad Dylan, I do. It's about time that you found a beautiful woman who you haven't slept with instead of being a piece of scum you've been for the past couple years."

"Mom!" She put her hand up stopping me.

"Let me finish. Dylan I love you, you are an amazing young man, but the way you have treated women would of made your father beat some sense into you." I sighed when she mentioned my father. He was great loving man who respected women, especially my mother. He was a cop himself which was why I became one. Sadly, he died when I was seventeen. I instantly took over the family and dad's place, but mom was right dad would have beaten sense into me.
