Chapter One

Riley's P.O.V.

I sat on my couch looking out the window at the pouring rain, and I couldn't get my mind off of Officer Barkley. He was an arrogant ass, but his arrogant ass was fun to look at. I smiled at the thought of his body pressing up against me seductively whispering in my ear just the thought could make any girl go into a sexual coma.

My cellphone began ringing instantly knocking me out of my day dreaming. "Hello?" I asked without checking the I.D.

"HELLO GIRLY!" I pulled the phone away from my ear and checked the I.D. It was Faith.

"Well good morning to you too." I said sarcastically.

"Well, how was your first night?" She asked and I could hear the enthusiasm in her voice.

"Not so good, I kind of got caught."

"What do you mean you got caught? You didn't give them my name did you?" I rolled my eyes. Did everything have to be about her?

"No Faith, I didn't give them your name, but I sort of got arrested."

"What do you mean sort of? Who arrested you?"

"Officer Barkley but-"

"WAIT! You got arrested by Officer Dylan Barkley?"

"Yes and-"

"Don't move!" She said cutting me off. "I'm coming down there and you have to tell me the details. Plus I need to go grocery shopping, wanna come?" I put my head on the arm of the couch.

"Okay, sure."

"Love ya babe." She said before hanging up. I did the same and slid my cellphone in my pocket. Faith only lived up stair so she would be here soon. I quickly got up and put on a coat when someone knocked on the door. I opened it up and their stood faith with a fur coat on.

"Where did you get that?"

"A payment." She said with a smile. Why was I friends with here again? Oh yeah because she's the only one in town I know.

"Well you know it's light outside, so you don't have to walk around like it's your night job." Her mouth formed a tight line.

"Just because you got caught doesn't mean you have to rip on me." I walked in the hall pushing Faith to the side and locked my door.

"I'm sorry, but it's kind of been a long night." I said.

"Yeah, okay I'll forget about it this time." She replied, "but next time you won't be so lucky." She said in a way that made me want to cower in fear. There was something that just wasn't right about Faith but I couldn't put my finger on it.

"Thanks, uh, let's go." I smiled and we left the building and walked down the street to the grocery store. She grabbed a cart and began pushing to the food aisle and I followed.

"So tell me about Barkley?"

"What do you mean?" I asked slightly confused.

"Well, Barkley is a hard ass and he isn't exactly the forgive and forget type if you know what I mean." She grabbed some T.V. dinners and threw them in the cart.

"Oh trust me, I know what you mean, but I really don't know why he let me go. I mean he said it was a welcome gift." She stopped the cart and turned to me.

"A welcome gift?" She slowly asked almost like she was trying to process it in her tiny brain of hers.

"Yeah, it was weird he handcuffed me, I crushed his pride, then he asked me where I lived and he took me home."
