The cabin was very loud this morning. Everyone was dressed in their usual outfits again, chattering away, trying to say one last thing before we all had to leave. The last morning of camp was always like this, and it was nothing that I wasn't used to.
"So..." Gaia began hesitantly as everyone began quieting down. "What are you all doing the rest of the summer?"
"Still can't say." I replied. Actually, it was getting to the point that I was nervous to say it. Truthfully I didn't know if I was ever going to see these girls again, but we all knew that's the only question we really wanted an answer to. I still hadn't seen my old cabinmates from last year, even though we'd been a tight group too.
"I don't think I want to leave." Eve sighed, laying on her bed. She was the first one packed despite what she said, but she sounded sincere.
"I don't really want to either." Pearl agreed. "You guys are actually the best friends I've had in years... Some of the only ones too."
"I agree. Unfortunately, I live in a different province. I'll be back on the east coast by the end of the day." Gaia told us.
"How long does it take to get to PEI from Guelph?" I asked. I was curious. Surely her family wasn't driving her here and back, right?
"I'm taking a train to Toronto and flying from there, so it'll be about six hours." Gaia replied. "My brothers wanted to drive until Pa told them it would take about nineteen hours."
"Is anyone picking you up, or are you going to the train station alone?"
"I was planning on calling a taxi."
"Want me to ask my parents if we can drive you?"
Gaia thought for a minute, then smiled at me. "Sure! I'd love that!"
"Guys, parents are starting to arrive!" Aubrey pointed out the window. Yep, there were definitely more adults than usual out there.
"Well, if you girls want to go outside for a little while and see if you recognize anyone, you can." Maggie told us. "Just make sure to let us know before you leave."
"Awesome! Thanks Maggie!" Lilac grinned. "Come on guys, lets go!"
We all rushed out of the cabin with our partners not far behind. Misdreavus and Flabebe flew around our heads, Eevee, Amaryllis, and Pikachu running on the ground behind us, and Greninja, Deerling, and Jade running with the group. When we got outside we finally paused. What now?
"Wait, what do we actually want to do out here?" Aubrey asked.
"What can we do? They're packing up camp. Not allowed to swim, no time to climb the rock wall... No archery. We're not allowed in the forest right now. That also means no challenge games either." Eve spoke her thoughts aloud.
"Wow. Should we just go back in the cabin?" Gaia suggested. We talked it over and decided against that.
"Okay... How about a few last battles with each other?" Pearl suggested. We all seemed to agree with that one.
"Hey girls, can I join?" A voice came from behind the group. We all knew it.
"Hey Phoebe!" I turned around to look at our friend. "Sure, you can join!"
"Awesome! Can Dia join too? She's in my cabin and has been looking for someone to battle with as well."
"Sure!"
A few other people we knew overheard our conversation as well, and suddenly we had nine more people asking us to join. There were quite a few of us, fifteen to be exact, but we'd manage.
