Justin walked into the room. White seemed to be the theme, even on Madelyn's face. There was a chair on the corner of the wall, and he pulled it up to the edge of the bed and propped his elbows on the sides of the chair. He took a deep breath and looked at the CNIBP (also, the CNIBP has the heart rate). The heart rate was fine, blood pressure was low, and breathing was getting better.

As Justin watched the CNIBP through blurry eyes, he saw straight lines come through, and his own heart rate grew. He found it hard to look at, so he put his head on the thin bedspread, grabbed Madelyn's hand, and closed his eyes. He found himself praying to God to spare her life, and to heal her soon.

"You know you don't have to squeeze my hand so hard," A small whisper came from the bed beside Justin.

He looked at the now purple hand he was holding, then looked up to meet the gaze of Madelyn. Not waiting a moment more, he sprang up and threw his arms around her. No words came. They spoke without needing to speak.

"Don't cry. I'm gonna be just fine,"

"Your voice is weak. Get some rest,"

"How's Atlas? Is he okay??"

"Umm, let me see. Before the ambulance left, the vet told me he had a Torn Ligament in the front left leg and a torn tendon in the right. On the back legs, he is just bruised in the bones."

"That's good... doesn't mean though that there won't be side effects,"

"Your mom and sister should be here soon,"

Just as he said it, they walked in, holding flowers and cards. ''Do you have any idea what could have happened to you?!" Paetyn said and sank down beside Madelyn. "You could have been killed!''

"Well I'm not, and all I have is two broken wrists and two broken legs,''

"And you think that that's okay!?'' Madelyn's Mom said.

"Well, thank goodness she is somewhat okay,'' Justin said.

"Here, we got you some decorative flowers, that have yellow mini lilies, pretty sure that's not their real name; but who cares?" Paetyn said and set them on the table.

"Thanks, guys,"

After talking for a while, it was time for everyone to leave. The nurse said that she might be able to come home tomorrow, depending on how stable she was. She also said that since Madelyn broke both ankles, she had to be in a wheel-chair. Did Madelyn like this?? Absolutely not!! They thankfully had a bedroom on the main floor, so she could sleep in there. But it meant no riding, no doing chores, and no walking.

Worst of all, Madelyn feared she would never get on a horse again.
