My middle school teacher had a concept called "Speaker's Corner" (yes after the one in London". Where we would write a speech about a self-elected topic. This is one I wrote in 8th grade. And just know how much I trust you with, because I was SO ashamed presenting this.
And remember, I wrote it as a speech not an essay.
One direction
I couldn't decide what to talk about, so I asked like everyone, and one of my friends said that I should talk about One Direction, because that would make her happy. So yes, that's what I'm going to talk about in the next couple of minutes.
In 2010, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik auditioned as solo candidates in The British X-Factor season 7. Simon Cowell and a guest judge quickly saw that the five boys would be good together, and not long after there was a boyband. The group got two weeks together to get to know each other and to practice. Harry came up with the name 'One Direction'. Their first song together as a group was an acoustic version of Natalie Imbruglia's song 'Torn'.
Every week the boys had to do video diaries for the show and one time Louis joked about liking girls who eats carrots, and after that diary was out he got so many carrots that he, in the next diary, said he liked girls who likes Lamborghinis.
They got a 3rd place in the competition. Shortly afterwards it was confirmed that One Direction signed a contract with Simon.
Already in January 2011 they were recording their first album, Up All Night, which was released later that year. Their song 'What makes you beautiful' reached number one on the UK Singles Chart the same year. And in November they signed a record deal with Columbia Records in North America.
Harry and Louis were very close in the beginning but after their fans started to see them as a couple and watched every step they took, 1D's management made rules for the boys to stop the rumours. As for an example they could not sit or stand besides each other in interviews and pictures. This rumour also destroyed their friendship because they couldn't do anything with each other without a thousand pictures and videos were made of them.
The boys made 3 more albums besides Up All Night, before Zayn quit the band in 2015 to get solo career. After that they made one more album Made In The AM, which is the album they are most proud of because they were the most involved. They toured with every album except Made In The AM so they could have a break after touring and recording 5 years strait. The last album, in their words, was a gift to the fans.
The boys said they were going on a break for 18 months to relax, be with family and do their own thing as solos but after 3 years they're still not together but they are all doing great as solo artists.
Harry has made an album, been on a world tour and is doing a lot of interviews, as well is Niall.
Liam has made an EP and has been doing some shows. It has been good for him to be on his own and not have so much responsibility because when he was in 1D he had alcohol problems because of all the pressure. Now he also has a cute baby named "Bear" who he got with his old X-factor judge but they are separated today.
Louis has made 4 Songs and is a judge on this year's British X-factor as a guest judge. Louis also has a son, who's named Freddie
Zayn has published two albums and has featured in a lot of songs. When he was in 1D he had Eating disorder. Now he's keeping it downlow, he want's people to focus on his music instead of him even though he does a lot of modelling.
There is a rumour that the boys will be back together in 2021 to make more music together.
