Todoroki's POV
As soon as Uraraka left after dropping off the food, it was silent. Things were off to an awkward start.
Katsuki, in an attempt to distract himself, started to dig into his extra spicy katsudon immediately.
The first time I had seen him eat had been, jarring to say the least.
Customs were different that far west. Eating enthusiastically was expected, as a sign of appreciation for the food. He was not loud or gross, just appalling energetic. Rarely taking a chance to breathe.
I politely took my first bite. Careful to look only at my plate. But after a while, I started to realize that I only heard one pair of utensils other than mine.
This was quickly confirmed when I heard Izuku shift in his chair. My eyes were automatically drawn to the noise. I was about to look away again when I realized he hadn't taken a bite.
I looked at him confused, as I distinctly remember him being quite hungry. So why was he not eating? Did he think it was poisoned?
And then it dawned on me. The omega has to be told they are allowed to eat. I silently cursed my stupidity before speaking.
"You can go ahead and eat Izuku. While you are here with just us, you are no longer required to ask permission to eat. Ok?" I assured him.
I looked at him expectantly. Waiting for him to take a bite. When he still hesitated I looked down at the food then at him again. Hoping to clue him in. his eyes widened in realization after a minute
"o-oh okay" he stuttered as his hand shot out and he brought the first bite to his mouth.
"Tch'' I didn't have to look over to realize that Katsuki was just as concerned about him eating. He lifted his eyes to look at us for a second. Hesitating with the food inches away from his mouth, before finally placing it on his tongue and moaning in delight.
I couldn't help but smile slightly. How cute.
Katsuki's POV
After finally downing his first bite, he no longer hesitated. Eating even more enthusiastically than me.
But this was not a common courtesy thing. The poor boy was absolutely starved. It made me slightly angry.
A gorgeous omega like that, much less my mate, didn't deserve to have had to live like that. I was more angry at myself though. The idea of my mate being a peasant had never dawned on me. Much less a homeless one. I was not upset or put off by that fact though. It just meant that spoiling him was going to be a lot of fun.
Sho and I had tried visiting the omega slave trades in many different kingdoms a couple of times, but we only bothered looking at the more expensive ones.
I was pulled from my thoughts by a most beautiful sound. Izuku purring. It was purely melodic as his omega seemed to call out to my alpha. Telling me how good a job I had done providing for him.
When I got a look at his face, I couldn't help but smile. He was leaning back with his eyes closed. Totally blissed out. It was adorable. I chuckled.
When he heard me, his eyes shot open and he sat up. I was a little disappointed at that.
When he realized he was purring, he blushed a deep crimson. He quickly cut off the sound.
My alpha felt incredibly offended. How dare he deprive me of that melody!! I glared scathingly at his throat, where the sound had been cut off.
"Why did you stop purring?" it was the same question I was trying to voice with my glare. But my features softened when I saw him start to panic.
"Calm down, we're not mad. Just don't do it again ok?" I spoke softer than I ever had before.
My alpha crooned in pride when I witnessed the effect my voice had on my omega. He calmed down immediately, almost going limp.
But I was caught off guard when Izuku abruptly stood up. Toppling the chair as he took off to the bathroom. Hesitating for a moment at our bed. He swung the door open and slammed it behind him. I heard the lock snap loudly only a few seconds later.
And then the smell came. Goddamn it was strong. And absolutely mouth watering. I had just eaten a full meal, and yet I felt hungry again.
My vision swam at the intensity as I felt stuck to my seat.
The effect on Sho was different. Immediately he shot up and raced to the door. Yelling through to ask if Izuku was okay. It took me a minute, but soon enough I joined him at the door. Just in time to hear a moaning Izuku call for an alpha to help him.
I felt a moment of clarity as I understood what was happening. My omega was in heat. Worse, he was in pain. And I couldn't help him.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Sho reach for the doorknob. I knew at that moment I was the only one who still had a semi-clear head. And I needed to take advantage of that before we did something we would regret.
I grabbed a growling Sho by the wrist and practically dragged him out of our room. Once my head started to clear, I made a bee-line for Ms. Chiyo's clinic. She would know what to do.
Sho followed behind drunkenly, still high on Izuku's pheromones. When we got there, I frantically explained what was happening.
My chest swelled with pride as she praised me for staying strong and making good choices. When Sho snapped out of it, he gave me a kiss on the cheek and did the same. Chiyo then explained we have no choice but to wait until the wave was satisfied, and then attempt to transfer his passed out body to the heat room.
I hated the idea of letting my omega suffer all alone, but I knew she was right. Having us right there but out of reach would be worse for him than to just let his omega get him through it.
After about half an hour, we went back up to check if he was done. When we got there, his scent was already fading. Light snores drifted through the door after we tried to jiggle the handle. Now that we knew he was asleep, Chiyo took out her skeleton key and unlocked the bathroom door.
And goddamn...
