Chapter 8

Rosie's P.O.V.
Nate and I had been in the car for almost fourth minutes he did not ask one time about what was going on and I appreciated it. I didn't let one tear slip out of my eye not because I was holding back my crying but because I couldn't cry. I had no tears left for Jack Gilinsky. I think it was because in the back of my head I always knew the inevitable that we were to good to be true. I think I always knew Jack would do something to mess this up just like he always did but I pushed those thoughts away and gave him the benefit of the doubt. I'm not sure if I'm even mad at Jack. I think I'm mad at myself for letting myself fantasize about my future with him. I should have known better by now. My eyes caught a gas station and I shot up in my seat.
"Nate oh my god please stop at the gas station!! We need snacks and slushees." I practically beg as he chuckles.
"Someone's feeling a little better." He says as he puts the car in park.
"Actually just feeling hungry." I laugh.
Nate laughs at me as I throw snacks into my shopping bin. Anything that sounded good to be was getting thrown into it.
"Rosie do you really expect to eat all this." He laughs.
"I mean not right this second no." I laugh harder as I look don't at how many snacks I actually have. "Fine let's slushees now." I smile.
I picked classic cherry and Nate got some mystery flavor. We set done all our stuff on the counter and the cashier started to ring us out. Nate tried bringing out his wallet multiple times but I wouldn't let him since he was driving me back to campus. His phone rang for the first time tonight and he walked outside to answer it.
'Jesus' I thought as the cashier told me my total I slipped him the cash and grabbed my things headed back out to Nates car.
I tour open my cherry sours and popped one into my mouth as I waited for Nate to get back in the car.
He sighed heavily as he sat down and grabbed a few of my candies and his slushee.
"You know I just took a brutal lecture from Mia about driving you back to campus." He said popping the cherry sour into his mouth.
"Well that was probably an ear full." I laugh.
"Why didn't you tell any of us that you and Jack are dating?" He asked as my face fell a little.
"Were dating. That is now past tense." I say taking a big gulp of my slushee.
"So this is just me putting two and two together but I'm taking is this was your first time hearing of Cassie was tonight." He said coughing.
"Ding ding we have a winner." I laugh at myself.
"If it makes you feel better I think she was lying about them being on break. I'm almost positive he actually broke up with her."
"He still failed to mention her existence to me. I had no time to prepare myself for this situation. There's just so many things he's done the last several months  that all click together with me finding out about her. I just don't understand why he can't stop lying. I loved him with my whole heart and all he has done is trashed mine." I breath. " I thought we could handle anything that came our way but not when someone repeatedly lies to you.  Or gives you the option of deciding for yourself." I pop another candy in my mouth and stare out the window.
"So you're saying if Jack told you everything that happened in his past relationship you would have still chose to be with him?" He ask.
"I don't know but at least I would have the option to decide to stay or leave." I sigh.
"Are you going to give him the chance to explain?" He asked.
"No."
"Why?"
"Because I'm so in love with him Nate that I know I'll give into him like I always do. I just can't be with someone I give my all to and constantly get shit on. Cassie can have him." Nate nods his head not pushing me any further.
His hand slowly reaches and turns the radio up playing some of our favorite songs. The rest of the ride breezed by especially with Nate cheering me up.
"You can stay in my dorm tonight. I don't want you driving back so late by yourself." I say.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I'm sure. My dorm is huge and my bed is big. Nothing weird. I promise." I smile "and I'd you want to really have fun you can stay another night and I'll take you to bomb ass party." I smile.
"Sold." He laughed and helped me grab my things.
"Thank you Nate. I'm really thankful for you helping me tonight."
"You know I always got you." He smiled.
