We all went to the church to rehearse the ceremony and I met my counterpart, the second groomsman, Owen. He was aged sixteen, the younger brother of the groom, Greg.

Greg's immediate family had been acquainted with my situation, so Owen knew that I was 'a boy in a dress'. I felt awkward meeting him, but he was cool. He said he would treat me strictly as a girl because he thought that would be the best way to help me maintain my disguise. I quickly began to feel comfortable with him.

Only two days to go. The wedding party and immediate families went out to the country hotel complex where the reception was to be held in order to familiarise ourselves with the place.

After we'd looked around for a while and were standing in the main reception hall, Owen announced, "I think it would be a good idea if Sandra and I have some practice at dancing so that I don't trample all over her feet on the big day."

He'd bought along a CD player; he turned the music on and approached me. With a sweeping bow he asked, "My lady, if you would do me the honour?"

I played the game and held my hand out in an affected manner, "But sir, the honour is all mine."

Dad had been teaching me how to dance the female part; he was a good dancer, but in a formal and proper way. Owen was also a good dancer, but with a more fluid and an easy style. Soon we were grooving.

Audrey and her partner joined us, and then quickly everyone was strutting and prancing. It was great fun.
