I walked into the hall with earbuds in, humming along to my favorite songs. I entered the elevator, prepared to go 3 floors down to the dining room when Peter decided to join me.

"Hi," he said quietly as he walked through the doors. We both just stared at our phones in an awkward silence, urging the elevator to go faster, when everything jolted and stopped.

Me and Peter looked at each other in confusion wondering what happened.

"What was that?" He asked. I looked up and saw the arrow indicating the floors we would be passing was stuck in between the 2nd and the 3rd floor.

"Crap," I said under my breath.

"What?"

"We're stuck. See?" I said pointing to the floor indicator. I could see him sigh as he stood there looking like he was lost in a deep thought.

I pulled out my phone and began scrolling through Instagram when he turned to me.

"Isn't this a multi-million dollar building? Why are the elevators stopping?"

"I have no clue," I replied. "It should be moving again by now." With the doubt of the elevator actually starting again soon, I sank to the ground and focused hard on my phone, trying to avoid Peter. There was something about him that made my insides turn.

"You don't have any crazy or weird powers I should know about right?" He seemed to say this half jokingly and half seriously.

"No," I said laughing a little, "I'm just a normal teenage girl."

"With a billionaire father," he added.

"Yes, with a billionaire father," I chuckled. We both looked at each other, making eye contact, and for a split second, something inside me seemed to warm up when I looked into those warm brown eyes. Ugh snap out of it Ember, I thought to myself.

After a few very awkward minutes, the elevator jolted alive and we began moving again. As soon as the doors opened, I walked out. That's when I realized Peter would most likely be joining us for dinner.

I stopped and turned around to see Peter looking a bit confused as he looked around.

"Do you need help finding the dining room?" I asked.

"Um, I think so," he said shyly like he was embarrassed.

As we began walking down the hall, Peter turned to me.

"Um, there's a party tonight. Do you wanna come?" If I'm being totally honest, him asking me this kinda baffled me.

"Sure, I guess," I said looking down at my hands.

"Really? Because you don't need to if you don't wanna."

"I do. I've just.. never been to a High School party before."

"You've never been to a High School party before?? Have you even been to High School?"

"Umm... not really, no." I looked back up at him to see him practically gawking at me. "It's not my fault. My dad kept me homeschooled so I never really got the chance to go and make friends."

"That's kinda sad if I'm being completely honest here." You look at him and break up into laughter as he does too and before you know it, your both laughing like clowns.

Both of you keep walking until you get to the dining room where you see Steve, Natasha, Wanda, Vision, Bruce, and your dad sitting.

"Did somebody die or something? Why is everybody sitting together?" The last time everybody sat down together was when my grandma died (on my moms side).

"Nope, we just wanted Peter's first dinner to be a good one," my dad responded. Me and Peter looked at each other unsurely, but brushed it off and pulled out two chairs side by side.

The entire dinner we joked and laughed until we heard my dad and Steve fighting.

"She was wearing green and blue," my dad said.

"No, she was clearly wearing red and orange," Steve said back. Most of the time I didn't understand a word they would say to each other.

"You guys are such idiots," Natasha said to them. I took this chance to ask my dad about the party that night.

"Hey Dad? Can me and Peter go to a party tonight?" He looked at me unsure and then began asking questions.

"Who will be there? How many kids? Will there be alcohol?" I mentally rolled my eyes at my dad for being so overprotective.

"Daaaad, we'll be fine."

"And to answer your questions, Mr. Stark, it's a Birthday party for my close friend ned. Only our science group will be there and no alcohol."

I could see my dad think it over before saying,

"Fine. But be back my 11 and don't leave each other's side. Understood?"

Me and Peter both nodded our heads. After that, dinner was pretty much over so we left. As me and Peter were going back to our rooms, I asked him,

"The party won't be any of the things you mentioned to my dad, right?"

"Right," he said in response.
