I hear a soft thrumming against something and the jingling sound of charms on a bracelet.  When I open my eyes, I see a clump of purple hair and a pair of brown eyes that twinkle at my awakening.  "Sylvia! You're okay!  I didn't let Mason come see you, that awful little traitor and he thinks I'm lying and denies everything.  He thinks that it was that lobby attendant downstairs, the one with the ugly attitude, but I just know it was him."

"Olive, what do you mean it's him?  What happened?"

A look of realization and stupidity crosses her face, "Duh, you didn't know.  Face palm, anyway, last night you got home from the support that you went to without me you know?  Yah, well I heard you come in and I wanted to be unsociable since you left me, and didn't come out.  I heard a crash and when I came out to see the problem, you were on the floor and Mason was standing above you. I warned him never to go anywhere near you again, and he's been trying and trying to say that he heard a crash and then came to find you on the floor.  I didn't trust him at all, but he's outside again if you want to talk to him."

I an stunned at her suddenness and start thinking things through in my head.  "I'll be right back Olive." I stand up and rush over to the door and open it to a bright faced Mason.  His eyes are down turned and sad but his cheeks are flushed and puffy as if he just ran here or something.  "Mason, don't come close to me again.  This was temporary anyway.  I don't care what my Mom says about this.  I can protect myself and you can go away."

"Can't I explain what happened?  Aren't you going to hear what I say?"

"No, no, if you leave now I won't scream, just go." His expression turns to a solemn one as he dips his head and walks away.  I turn around and open the door, feeling suddenly depressed.  Olive is outside on the balcony, dangling over the edge, presumably sleeping, with her toes propping her on the ground.  I rush out to her, Olive, wake up, you'll fall."

"I'm not sleeping.  I mean, I came our here to sleep on the chairs but I noticed something in that tree."  She points to an average sized tree where a rift in the perfect green leaf colour was the only difference present.  A shimmering area highlighting the air, making it stand out.  I immediately recognize this as a faerie communication device.  My mother must be contacting us.  "Do you have your retrieving equipment with you?"

"Yeah, I'll go grab it."  I run inside the apartment down to the hallway to my room and run inside.  I turn to the closet where my weapons and equipment are hidden.  I rummage through the large suitcase and find my concealer and glass box.  The concealer is to hide ourselves and the box so no one is concerned or troubled by our whereabouts, and the glass box is to retrieve the message.  It will be a live feed and I will be spelling directly to my mother.

I walk back to Olive on the balcony and hand her the package of concealer.  She powders it on herself and the glass box.  She hands me the package of the silvery powder and I sprinkle it on myself, covering every inch.  I look over at Olive; we can still see eachother and so can any other paranorm-our Faerie term for mythical creatures-but regular humans can't.  Olive sets up the Vlad box on the glass table on the balcony, twisting it so she can catch the reflection of the device and receive the communication feed with my Mom.

I see a shimmering flick of light when the device catches in the glad box.  There is a slight humming noise and I see my mother standing before me in place of the box.  She begins to speak,"Sylvia, before you say anything, I must warn you that you are facing the works of warlocks.  They will catch you off guard when and where you aren't expecting it.  The relic you are recovering is an ancient one, known only by humans who used to hold it, which is why I sent Mason with you.  He is the only one who can find it.  I can't talk long Sylvia.  If you have to say something, say it quick."
