Have you watched the movie Avengers Endgame? When Thanos thinks he is successful and fate has once again given him everything, but then just when you think the Earth is going to be destroyed in seconds, something goosebumps worthy happens. Everyone transports out of nowhere, from every part of the universe to kill Thanos.
You can guess that something like that just happened here in Cozinha comestivel. The only difference is that in this situation, I'm Thanos. And my world is about to crumble into teeny tiny pieces because standing there right in front of us is an army. And not just any army. Oh no, little minions decided to bring out their entire crew. A crew so big that it feels like they also transported here from all parts of the universe.
I whimper and stumble backwards but Andre's arms capture me before I can fall. I feel like I'm auditioning for "Us" twice now. If anyone doesn't know, Us is the name of the movie I was auditioning for earlier.
Standing in front of the army is Eugene with a gun aimed at the sky, the same gun that was aimed at me not a while ago, and the same gun that will be aimed at me in a few seconds now. Behind him, I can spot various kinds of men. Short, tall, strong, weak, all make the bulk of the swarm. From men with beards and mohawks to men with tatts and makeup, all stand there waiting for the old guy's orders. I swear I can even spot a naked man in this crowd.
Eugene has a broad pearly white smile on his face as he gestures forward to the rest of his squad, with a nod of his head.
"What. Did. You. Do?" I hear Andre bitterly ask me.
I frown and straighten my back up, moving an inch away from his arms, "Hey, I was trying to get away. It's all your fault."
"My fault? How is this my fault. What have you been doing in there anyway?"
"Like I said, I was trying to get away. Maybe if you listened to me instead of accusing me of something so rash, we wouldn't be in this situation right now."
"Oh so it's my fault now? Do you even know who's men these are?"
"Well it's certainly not my fault and—"
"ENOUGH!!"
Eugene disrupts our altercation with a roar. I huff and fold my arms on my chest. I don't even know what 'mister perfect guy' is doing right now, and honestly speaking, I don't even care anymore. All I know is that this scary weird mob is standing a few feet away from us. All paths of escape blocked with their assorted behinds, and we are stuck in a semi circle of thugs.
"Aren't you gonna introduce us Bonita?"
"Introduce us?" Andre looks at me incredulously. Is this guy even for real right now? I'm the one stuck between men I've never met before, all of them eager to see me dead. I don't know who to trust or how to get away, and yet he is the one doubting me. Great, just great. And for some reason it hurts to know that the guy who claims to protect you and keep you safe, thinks of you as an imposter. That really sucks.
"Eugene this is Andre, Andre this is Eugene." I sigh and get over with the formalities with a wave of my hand.
Eugene's smile turns wider and creepy whereas Andre mumbles something and starts rubbing his forehead.
"Well, well, Andre is it. I'm sorry Andre but you two are gonna have to come with us."
"And why is that?" He stands straighter and acts strong and tall and oh so yum. Did I just say that out loud?
"Yes you did."
"Oh damn. Pretend you never heard that."
"Gladly."
"You two don't shut up, do you?" Eugene butts in.
"No, she doesn't."
"Hey!" I look at Andre in disbelief, "I can clearly see you trying to suppress a smile asshole."
"I don't have enough time for this. Get them boys." With the snap of his fingers, the entire army starts proceeding forward making it even harder for us to escape.
All I can think about is that I have signed the contract and only Andre can save me because I need something very important to do for him. And so, I hide behind him clutching his shirt tightly. Right now, I am more than happy to have signed this stupid contract because I don't see how one can just get away from here so easily.
"Do you trust me?" Andre asks me.
"What, of course not."
"Good."
And just like that, in one swift move, he turns around, grabs my hand, and jumps up on the railing, forcing me to follow him with a pull.
Not sure what he is actually upto, I look at him questioningly. Like a hot character from a manga or an anime, he tilts his head to the side and announces to the men, "Until next time gentlemen."
"Wait what are you- aaaaaaahh."
Yup, that's me screaming for my life, because Andre jumps from the second story, along with me, as if there is only water down below and we both can dive in there like a couple of whales. He even might be one but I can bet that I'm not.
We both fall down freely, and let me assure you, it does feel like swimming. But it would be more fun and less scary if you are sky diving and not free falling to break yourself.
"Control your pitch woman!" I finally hear Andre reprimand as he let's go of my hand and pushes me away.
That's when I come to my senses and shut up. I don't know how this happened, but he is standing erect on the ground with so much grace as if he never jumped from the second story. Whereas I am sprawled on the ground like a toddler enjoying the dirt when his mother tells him to avoid it.
"Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, I'm alive!"
After hugging the ground below me in vain, I get up and rub my behind because it stings with the damage it just got thanks to Andre. But before I can make any remark or ask him how we made it down alive in one piece, we hear Eugene scream from above, "Get them!"
"Come on."
And just like that, he starts running with me following him like a lost puppy. And that is the story how I met your father, kids. Joke, haha. But seriously though. That's when all my freedom came to an end. This is where I start following him for a long long long time...
"Quick, in the black car."
He points towards a beautiful shiny black sleek car standing idly in the parking lot, as if waiting desperately for it's owner.
It's just one of those cars that you don't get to see on your normal lucky day in Rio De Janeiro.
Man, this guy must be rich. Because that car looks brand new and pretty expensive. The only ride I can afford is an Uber, and he has that!
We both rush towards his car and sit down shutting the door abruptly. Both gasping for air look at each other and then at the approaching men. I feel bile rise to my throat as I see the monsters approaching and sit straighter, ready to drive as far away as I can from them.
"Oh f*ck!" I mutter as soon as I face forward and realize the crux of the matter...
