The Fighting

Her parents fight 24/7

Her mother is usually gone, working, but when she is home:
Her father is usually drunk, rum, but when he is sober:

They yell at each other for every little thing,

What we're eating
What station to have on in the car
What side we're going to have with the main course
What restaurant
What color the shower curtain will be
What store has the best sale

And in the end
The fight manages to always end with her
It's her fault
Somehow it always is
Her parents blame her for everything
But she's ok with that
Because the fight will be over faster that way
So she says her sorry
And that she should have never done what she did
And that it was wrong
And it will never happen again
She says those four lines every fight
It's been rehearsed for years

Still she smiles
