Chapter 13

The rest of the day went uneventful and it was good enough for me because the drama I had in the morning was very much. I was now at my home cooking dinner for everyone when I heard the twins entering the kitchen. Well, they were trying to be sleazy but nothing can get past a mother's eye. They were trying to get their chocolates which I had clearly told them not to. This made me smile. They brought a smile to my face even on my worst days.

"Arush, Arushi do you want something baccha?", I turned towards them with my hand on my hips trying to look strict. They looked at me as if they have been caught stealing which they were technically trying to do. They looked so cute that it melted my heart and my strict facade broke down. I went towards them and knelt in front of them, "do you want chocolates?", I asked smiling at them. They became so happy that they started jumping.

"Please maa, me choco," Arushi said showing me her puppy eyes. Seeing her sister Arush also doing the same thing as her sister and I could not control my laughter anymore so I picked both of them up and started laughing. I kissed each of their cheeks and put them on the floor and went to the refrigerator and took out the chocolate. Seeing the chocolate in my hand they had a large grin on their face. I broke a little piece and handed them each a piece." Today have this little piece and the rest you will eat tomorrow, ok?" I asked. They just shook their headlong forgotten about me. I could just smile. As I was keeping the chocolate in the fridge my attention went to the ring sitting on my finger. A deep sigh escaped from my lips. I will have to tell my family about it soon. 

We were all eating our dinner and everyone was talking among themselves but I was not interested instead I was trying to plan how to tell them about my sudden engagement to Xavier. Simmi must have felt my uneasiness so she asked, "Are you okay di?"

I gave her a small smile and nodded, "Yeah I am fine. Don't worry about it."

"No beta, something is bothering you which you are not telling us. You know you can tell us anything." this time kakima said. 

Maybe this was the right time to tell them. I took a deep breath and smiled at her and said, "I have to tell you guys something."

"Okay, so tell us." kakima said."

"Not now kakima, let's talk after dinner." She nodded her head.

After dinner we all were sitting in the living room, well, except me who was pacing in front of everyone." just calm down Aaru, and tell us what's bothering you." Sam said.

"I got engaged." I blurted out. Everyone was shocked.

Sam started coughing the water she was drinking. Josh started rubbing her back. She stopped him and looked at me, "Girl, what the hell? You got engaged and did not even tell me." I opened my mouth to answer her but she beat me to it." Last night you said that you did not want to get married and suddenly a day after you get engaged? If someone is bothering you then you should tell me, I will kick his ass." She continued to speak not letting me once explain myself. finally, Josh held her down and controlled her," Babe, let her explain herself first. Okay?" She looked at him and finally settled and then nodded at me to continue.

"So let me tell you all again. I am engaged to Xavier Knight." If I was not wrong then I really noticed that Sam's eyes widened more. She was trying to say something this time beat her to it," Your boss?" to which I just nodded.

" You said Knight?" this time Kaku said.

"Yes."

"Do you have any pictures of him?" he asked. I opened my phone and showed him his photo to Kaku. He looked happy seeing the photo. But why? He showed the photo to kakima and there was a relief on her face too.

"Umm, what's going on Kaku? Why do you look so happy seeing his photograph? do you guys know him?" I asked because I was not having a good feeling about this thing.

"He is the man I was convincing you to meet for your marriage. He is the son of my friend." He said happily. I was left open at this revelation. How come I am so unlucky. Now, this deal will become more complicated. Does Xavier know about this? Did he plan this all along? If this is true then he will have to face my anger. My thoughts were interrupted when Kaku patted his hand on my head, " Was he the reason you were trying to avoid the topic for marriage?" I could not lie to him anymore so I just gave him a small and smile nodded.

later that night I called Xavier. He picked up the phone at the first ring," missed me this early, darling." he said in his velvety voice which made my skin tingle. 

I shook that feeling out and groaned at his use of endearment," don't call me that. What I called you for is that did you know about the proposal between our parents?"

"What proposal are you talking about?" he asked.

" Oh so now you are trying to be innocent? But you know what I know exactly how low you can get to get what you want. So don't try to play the innocence game with me and tell me the truth already. Am I clear Xavier?" I was now shouting.

"don't you yell at me Arunima. And about the deal, I don't know anything about it. Believe me." Now he was shouting at me .

"Believe you?" A sarcastic laugh left me.

"Yes.And before you cook your own further  story tell me about that damn deal."

And so I told him all about how our parents were thnking to get us married and the story I told them to make them believe in  this sudden engagement and he listened very quitely.

"I think this arrangement between our parents ended up being in our favour. What are you so tensed about Arunima?" He asked me slowly.

"Don't you see Xavier? We are lying to them about everything. They think that we are in love and that is the reason we are getting married and they are hoping that we will live happily. They are believing in this facade." I was now crying but I still continued"I can't lie to them. I don't want to hurt them Xavier." I continued sobbing.

"Shh love, don't cry. I don't want you to cry . Please calm down. Eveything will turn out fine. Don't worry." He tried to calm me down but it enraged me more.

"How do you expect everything to turn out right? Tell me Xavier, do you believe us to get married and fall in love? Don't you get it, its all a big lie. Its just a deal." I said the last sentence in a low whisper."

"Only if you want it to be Arunima." He said in a slow voice. But hearing it I felt as if someone has put a bucket full of ice water.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"It means exactly what you are understanding. Well I leave that decision to you . So goodnight ." Before I could say anything he disconnected the call. I was now the phone now more confuse than ever. what is happening in my life? How my life ended up being so complicated?

I will start writing this book but I will start publishig its chapters in April so that I have written few chapters till then.
