Chapter 4 - Birthday Ball
"Oh my god, was he cute?" Darcy asks me. I can't stop thinking about last night, about Lucifer.
"Yeah, more than cute. Like, he was at the extreme attractiveness level." I tell her. I'm telling her about last night's trip to Deathfall, leaving out the part of me sleeping with Lucifer.
Last night was weird. When I came, I just kept replaying everything that has happened. I still can't believe the events that took place.
I keep thinking about Lucifer. His touch, his smell, the things he said... Well he barely said anything. I guess he's right. He isn't a people's person.
"Nothing happened right?" Darcy asks.
"Of course not, I came back before midnight anyways." I say as I put my clothes on. I didn't wake up for breakfast today, because I didn't fall asleep until sunrise, I think.
Its lunch time now, and Darcy will be joining us today with Liam and his father for lunch.
We walk downstairs and the guards are opening the door. Its Liam and his father. Talk about time punctuality.
"Princess Valerie Edgington, happy late birthday." his father says and bows down.
"Commander Jeffrey, you really don't have to bow down. You're like a father to me." I say and give Liam's father a hug. He treats me like his own daughter and I love him so much.
"Hey, Val. Hey, Darcy." Liam says.
"Son, its the princess you're talking to-" Liam's father starts saying.
"Its fine, really, you know how much I hate when people say that." I say.
"Jeffrey, Liam, welcome!" I hear Father's voice and turn around to see him and mother walking down the stairs.
"King William, Queen Hermione." Commander Jeffrey says and him, Liam, and Darcy bow down. This is such a stupid move. I hate it. No one is greater or more powerful than the other.
"We're glad you could make it." Mother says.
"Lets go into the dining hall, shall we?" Father says, gesturing them to go into the dining hall.
I'm still pretty pissed at father for what happened last night. Lets just say I'm not talking to him at the moment.
We've been sitting at the table for quite a few minutes now, I've barely touched my plate, and Liam can't get his eyes off of me. Awkward.
My father and commander Jeffrey have been talking nonstop about spreading guards in every corner tonight. But why?
"Why? What is happening tonight?" I ask, looking at Commander Jeffery.
"You're birthday ball, my darling, what else." he answers. Oh my god, the ball! I totally forgot that for the past eighteen years father and mother throw a grand ball the day next to my birthday. This is the first time I forget something like that.
