The First Night

I've found myself dancing with a stranger. A hot stranger, nonetheless, but a still a stranger.

One of my hands is intertwined with this stranger's. The other is holding his left shoulder. His free hand is around my waist, moving me in the right direction and speed as the song.

His black hair is slightly bouncing with the rhythm of our movements. My hair is still tied securely and isn't losing any small hairs.

Wait a fucking minute, this dude isn't a stranger. It's fucking Elliot. Gross.

"You're not as bad as I thought you were. From the way you elegantly fell earlier, I thought you would be a toe-stepper." I say, watching his feet.

"I'm glad you asked. If you must know, I've been taking dance classes since I was 9. 7 years of my life, vanished because I didn't know how to waltz." He replies, twirling me.

"Very informative, but I didn't ask." I say, ending our dance a little early by disentangling my hand from his and removing my other from his shoulder.

"Wait, the song isn't over yet." Elliot says.

"Rose is already staring at you. Go dance with her. I'm hungry as fuck." I say, walking away. I saw Rose looking at us, which indicated that my work here was done.

"Well, a deal is a deal, right? What do I have to do for you?" He asks, walking a little faster than me so he can catch up.

"Just stay away from me. You're weird and stinky." I respond. I can see him stop in his tracks.

"Stinky? What's that supposed to mean?" He asks from behind me. I stop and look behind me.

"I'm not sure, honestly. You just are." I say, continuing my walking.

I get back to the food table and see William there, smiling like he won a million pounds.

"What's got you in such a happy mood?" I ask William, grabbing a nearby plate.

"Clara danced with me! Well, as friends, but, I'm making tremendous progress!" William exclaims. I laugh and shake my head. I grab a small croissant and some grapes.

"Any progress is good. I'm happy for you. Just don't do anything stupid." I remind him. I don't want Clara getting hurt.

"You know I won't." He states. I nod.

"I'm off to the bathroom, I'll most likely see you tomorrow." William says.

"Bye." I say, he smiles and walks off.

I turn around and see Elliot still on the dance floor, but with Rose in his arms. I hold back the urge to throw a croissant at them. I've always hated Rose. She's an egotistical bitch.

I quickly eat my snacks and see that the time is 10:05. I place my plate into the garbage disposal and look around for Clara. I see her standing with a tall man who I saw earlier with Thomas. He's one of his friend's.

I hurriedly walk over to Clara to tell her about what happened earlier and to bad mouth Rose. I reach her and tap on her shoulder. She was giggling with the man.

"Oh, hey Addie. This is Fredrick. He lives around Oxford." She introduces me to the man next to her. He has short, blonde hair and green eyes.

"Hi, I'm Fredrick, but I go by Freddie." He smiles and holds his hand out for me to shake. I extend my hand and shake his for a short second.

"Nice to meet you, Fredrick. I'm Adeline." I tell him my name.

"Anyways, Freddie goes to the school and is in the year above us. He knows Thomas." She apparently is talking to me even thought she's looking at Fredrick. I'm not a fucking wall.
