It was a Friday night, and you and your boyfriend Justin were going on a double date with your best friend and her boyfriend to see the Fourth of July fireworks. Your friend was sure that Justin was going to propose, but you doubted it. Once you got ready, you texted Justin to come get you two from your apartment, where you and your friend were doing each other's hair and makeup. A few minutes later, he pulled up in the parking lot and rang your doorbell. You answered it, and you were immediately greeted by your boyfriend's muscular arms. "Hi, Justin," you said, smiling. "H-Hi. You look great," he gulped. Just as you were about to reply, your friend ran out and joined her boyfriend in the car. You laughed and grabbed Justin's hand, walking towards the car. You two sat in the backseat, but the ride was only a few minutes long. When you had arrived at the park, the fireworks had already started. They went on for a while, and you continued to watch, holding Justin's hand the entire time. It was weird; he seemed sweaty and he was fidgeting, too. "You okay?" you asked him once the fireworks had ended. "Yeah," he said, turning to your friend's boyfriend, who gave him an encouraging nod. "Let's go walk to the lake," Justin said, grabbing your hand once again. You quickly agreed, and you two began your silent walk to the lake, which was only about a half mile away. Once you got there, Justin led you to the nicest part of the lake, where the full moon reflected onto the clear water. Before you could comment on how beautiful it was, Justin was down on one knee. "I know we haven't been together for that long, but we've been through so much together. I couldn't imagine being with anyone else. Will you do me the honor of spending the rest of your life with me?" You didn't trust your voice, so you just nodded, tears filling up your eyes. Justin leaned in to kiss you, and a series of fireworks went off on the other side of the lake. "Did you plan that?" you giggled, wrapping your arms around his neck. "Yeah," he said, blushing. "Was it dumb?" You laughed, kissing him on the cheek. "It was perfect."
