Lightning struck beside the four cats. None said a word as they began to walk back to camp.
Unbelievable, Pebblecoat thought, how could- Wait a minute. . . Wh?- Is that. . . Bramblestar?! It wasn't his last life after all!"BRAM-"
But before she could even finish his name, Graystripe was already sprinting toward the splashing lake.
"Bramblestar! Your life! It was your eighth!" he paused, "I thought the Clan had lost you!"
"No. . . . Help, Graystripe! It's still following me!" Bramblestar rasped as he coughed up more water.
Graystripe jumped into the water and grabbed Bramblestar's scruff. He paddled in RiverClan style, faster than ThunderClan style. He heard a snap beside him. Bramblestar let out a painful yowl. The muskellunge tore a chunk of flesh from his flank.Graystripe quickened his pace. The half-bridge was in view. The muskellunge lunged at them with gaping jaws; Graystripe lept for dear life. The fish missed by a whisker.
Graystripe climbed onto the broken half-bridge with the injured Bramblestar in his mouth. He let out another yowl. "We need to get you to Jayfeather." Mushroomtail mewed, disturbingly staring at Bramblestar's wound. "Now."
"Y-Yes," Bramblestar whispered, barely audible.
"C'mon."

"JAYFEATHER!" Graystripe yelled, Bramblestar limping behind him.
"Oh, dear!" Jayfeather poked his head out of his den, "Get him in my den and off his feet immediately!"
Pebblecoat grabbed him and placed him in a nest in Jayfeather's den.
"Plumepaw! Go get some burdock root, cobweb, goldenrod, marigold, poppy seeds, and yarrow! Now!"
"B-"
"NOW!"
