Taking a Rebound

I stare deep into his sparkling eyes taking in his face with blonde hair and blue eyes. It takes a few seconds before I snap out of it, and remind myself of who I am. Then I turn around and walk away. Tyler then walks in front of me, grabs my wrist and pulls me to the front of the school. I turn toward him as he says the words that are meant to rip my heart out.

"I Tyler, next in line alpha of Dark Shadow pack formally reject you." It hurt. It really did. But not because he rejected me, no. It was because I knew out of all people, he was the one chosen for me. My wolf on the other hand was broken and crying inside but I wouldn't let that show.

"I Katy, formally accept your rejection." The tears begin to leak out as I realize that I will never have the love of my life that's supposed to care for me.

"Well that was taken care of easily, I'm sorry that we can't be together, but that's because this mate thing really doesn't suit me... if you get what I mean." He simply said. I then understood, I would rather be single for the rest of my life then be stuck with an asshole like Tyler. I dried my tears, as amusement erased the traces of sadness away from my face.

"So whoring around with Leah is what suits you huh?" I challenged, "well fine by me, cause I'm done here." I turned to leave.

A grip on my arm spun me around to face a very very pissed of Tyler.

"YOU DO NOT DISRESPECT YOUR ALPHA LIKE THAT, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" I stared at him for a little longer before my wolf had to submit.

"Yes Alpha" then he pushes me to the ground.

"Anyways look at yourself, you may be pretty good competition to other girls, but compared to Leah. Well, you don't have curves like hers, and she's more experienced in bed." The last words he said before leaving me there to break down from shame.

I sit there on the floor wondering what to do. I wanted a mate, but not Tyler that's for sure. I wanted a mate that would love me for who I am, not what I would look like or how 'how experienced' I am in bed. That's just ridiculous.

I huddle there with my knees under my chin and my arms wrapped around my legs before I feel a warm hand on my back. I turn around to see Brent giving me a sympathetic smile.

"Did you hear all of it?" I ask. Hoping if he did, then he would've missed the whole Alpha thing.

"Yeah our Alpha's a real ass." He stated.

"Agreed" I replied... wait, did he just say our Alpha's an ass? how does he... where did he... who told... wait a sec. I stare at him with confusion.

"I know about werewolves. Well I sortta am one so of course I would know" He said.

"WHAT?!?!" I'm pretty sure my eyes were bulging and I looked crazy at the moment. "How and when, and why don't I know this?"

"Look Katy, I think first we should get off the floor and maybe we should discuss this somewhere else. How about we go get some ice cream while we're at it?" He suggested. Sounded like a good enough idea. I would get my answers and I loved ice cream, plus I would be able to skip class and I definitely don't think I'm ready for anymore torturous lectures for today.

We jumped into Brent's car as we drove to a Baskin Robbins. I got a scoop of cookies n' cream while Brent got two scoops of mint chocolate chip. We then got a seat in the back of the store where I began to machine gun my questions to Brent before he stopped me.
