[2] Nightmares and Old friends

LIZA'S P.O.V

I woke up and still saw the night sky. So i decided to go back to sleep. I wasn't expecting it, because it didn't happen much lately but I had another dream. And it was a nightmare.

I was in a cruise ship with my family. We were having tons of fun. But then suddenly the ship lurched forward and crashed into an iceberg. Sounds like titanic? Yeah but this time there were two love of my lives I had to save. There was havoc all over the ship. And I found myself running. This must what dad had felt I thought. I was being pushed by mom and dad telling me to go to one of the rafts. As soon as I saw one I jumped right in and helped them aboard. Then suddenly the ropes to the raft that was connecting it to the boat snapped. And I (together with the raft) landed on the sea with a loud splash. I looked to see the boat sinking fast. I see mom and dad dangling thousands of feet of air from the edge of the ship. I see their grip loosening and their fingers slip. They both fall down and splash into the water. But they don't come back up. I feel tears in my eyes as I shout in frustration. I shout and shout calling out for them but nothing happens. I feel my eyelids close and I let them be.

I woke up sweating. I immediately went to the bathroom and freshened up a little. I hated having that kind of nightmares. Nothing hurt me as much as my parents. I feel tears falling from my cheeks at the thought of my dad. Even though we were mourning for his loss, I still remember making jokes and trying to make people laugh. I knew he didn't want us to just cry for him. We were still living back in england then. The reason why we were here because mom had her new job here as a nurse. And it was her hometown. I had to leave my friends behind, but I knew I had to anyway. We were off to college already. It took me a while to get used to this life, but when school started I met Nicole and she helped me alot.

"Liz I know you're awake. Can you please come down here, I have a suprise for you." she shouts.

"Okay mom. I'm coming down." I shout back.

I fixed myself once more, to make sure that there were no signs that I had been crying and went downstairs. I checked the clock 12:30. Lunch time

When I was at the edge of the stairs I saw suitcases and a handbag resting on the door. I wondered why they were there because it wasn't my or mum's suitcases. I entered the living room and saw a familiar looking guy sitting on the couch and mom sitting right next to him. He turns around and I gasp.

"Alex?" I ask in disbelief.

"Yup, lizzy guess who's here to annoy you again?" He says and walks over to me.

I pull him in for a tight hug. Alex is my bestfriend since preschool.

After the hug I smack his head.

"ow! What was that for?" He exclaims.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" I ask.

"a suprise wouldn't be a suprise if I told you. " He answered.

Mom cleared her throat. And we faced her.

"you're probably wondering why he's here?" she asks.

I nod and look over to Alex, he gulped. I wondered why. We then sat down on the couch and mom started explaining.

"Alex's parents passed away." mom explains.

I look over to Alex. he was trying not to cry. I tried not to cry as well, his parents were the best to me. They helped through me alot. They were my second family.

"H-h-how?" I managed to stutter out.

"Car accident. They were driving home. A drunk driver driving an eighteen wheeler truck hit them. And they didn't manage to get to the hospital alive. It's been a week since their death" she explained sadly.

"Alex i'm so so sorry for your loss." I say and hug him.

"it's okay. It's not like you could save them anyways. " He sobs into my shirt.

"And it's not your fault either. Okay?" I say and he nods.

"So I'm just going to give you guys some time alone. But if you need anything I'll be in the kitchen." she excuses and leaves.

"Come on, let's get you settled In" I say.

I help him with his luggage. And bring them over to the guest room. And he started to unpack so I helped him. We were nearly done when he interrupted the silence.

"Liza, What's black and white and extremely difficult? " He asks and I look at him suprised by his sudden question.

"No what is it?" I ask.

"An exam paper." He replies and I chuckle.

"You're the only one besides mom and dad who chuckled at that." He says.

"Hey, I'm suprised you still have.that sense of humor. Most people stay silent for a whole month or so." I say.

"I know. But hey I learn from the best right?" He says and finishes packing.

"Liza!!" mom called.

"Coming!" I call back.

I run out of the room but stop. I look back at Alex and ask

"Jusy to clarify things out, the best you were talking about is me right? "

"Yeah" He chuckles.

"Good." I answer and run down to mom wondering what could have happened that she called me.

sorry for the long wait! But here it is, the second chapter! My excuse, i've been busy with projects and homeworks. But I'll try to update as fast as I can.
