Chapter Forty-Two: Revolutions and Revolts

Lyra:

"Straighten those shoulders, Lyra.  Good, now bring it all in and try again."

I do as Coach Rancic says and still am not getting the speed I'd been getting before on my spins.  I'm frustrated and annoyed at myself.  What's wrong.  It had been going so well before Christmas.  Maybe too much time off? Maybe the time I had spent with the brothers.  That brings me to an uneasy thought.  I may have to revolt a little.  I may have to step away from the brother's a bit.  They mess with my head and I have no time for distractions this late in the game.

"You'll get it.  I see this is frustrating you.  Don't worry, love, you'll get it." Coach Rancic smiles at me.  Do you want to try your footwork while Christoph is here?"

Christoph is my choreographer and an excellent one at that.  No expense had been spared to get me to my goal.  And Stefan was stepping back which was excellent. "Yes, Coach, I'd like that."

   "Okay, let's do that then."

Zachariah:

Lyra has been slowly pulling away from us.  Oh the other's don't notice it, but I do.  I can see the distance she's putting between us and I don't like it, I don't like it one little bit.  I'm not sure what brought this about, but I'm going to fix it.

   "Dove?"

Lyra is chugging some Gatorade and about to return to the rink I can see.

"Oh hey, Zach, I don't have time to talk, I get have to get back to the rink."

"You have enough time to talk about this."

   "This? What?"

"You've been avoiding us.  You've been putting space between us, why?" Lyra sighs.

"I don't have time for this conversation, Zach.  I've gotta to get back."

   "Tonight then."

Lyra sighs again.  "Fine, tonight.  But Zach, please don't get upset if you don't like my answers to your questions." And with those cryptic words she's out the door.

What is going on with my Dove?  "What are you hiding, Dove?" I murmur.

"You're home early." Trent says grabbing some Gatorade and doing much the same as Lyra did.

"I wanted to check on our girl."

   "Why?"

"Haven't you noticed that she's been distant lately?"

   "Not really?"

"Then you're dense like a rock."

   "HEY!"

"It's true.  She's been avoiding us, and whenever we want to talk she doesn't have time,  She's hiding something from us and I don't like it.  We never even got to talk to her about the key."

"Well that's a big conversation, Zach."

"Yes, one we haven't had time to get into with her running from us at every turn."

   "She's busy."

"Too busy for a simple conversation?"

"There's nothing simple about our conversation, Zach, and you know it."
