Trenton:I'm furious. I need to punch something...or someone. Actually, right now, I wish my twin were in front of me, yeah, I'd definitely let out some of this fury on his face. Hell. He was the main reason I was so worked up in the fucking first place. What the hell had he been thinking...going to that toxic bitches place? She had very nearly destroyed him the first round over. I thought he was well over her shit.
"Fuck!" I shout at no one in particular. I clench and unclench my hands and swear again. "Fucking, fuck, goddamn fuck!" I should be at practice but instead I'm stewing inside of my car headed home to see a certain someone that I can't get out of my mind. I need to explain things to her. Talk to her. See her beautiful eyes light up and gorgeous smile shine brightly in my direction again.
I pull up to the house, park quickly and jump out. I'm surprised to see my brother's car in the garage and narrow my eyes. What the hell? Rushing into the house I'm halfway up the stairs when I hear feminine laughter and my eyebrows raise. The sound is coming from my Lyra's room. I don't bother knocking—I'm a douche—I know, I just open the door.
"Hey, can anyone join the party?" I ask. Lyra is sitting on the floor with another girl, Camille, Camilla I think, and they both have their heads together and are laughing. Of course the laughter stops when I barge into the room.
"What are you doing here, Trenton?" Lyra asks. "And what happened to knocking before you enter someone's room?"
Shit. Yup. She was still pissed at me. "I just wanted to come by and say hi."
"Well you've said it. You can go now. Cami and I are finishing up homework."
"Great, I'll join you. I've got some I need to finish too." I ignore their shocked expressions and join them on the floor.
"What the heck do you think you're doing, Trenton?"
"Homework, Lyra." I give her my best smile and wince when she just glares at me in return.
"You weren't invited." Lyra spits out.
"Oh let him, Lyra. If he needs help we should help him." Cami murmurs quietly and I could kiss her for it (of course I won't. There's only one girl that I want to kiss and she's currently staring at me as if she'd like to murder me).
"Fine," Lyra spit out. "We're on Calucus." She narrows her pretty eyes. "You think you can keep up?"
I grin broadly. "I'm not just another pretty face," I say.
"But what a face," And that comes from Cami, so low I have to strain to hear her. I try not to smile and fail, at least my charm in working on someone.
We work for sometime, and I have to admit that Lyra is a really good teacher. She makes things easy and puts things in ways that I'd never seen them before. After about a half an hour we stop and Cami asks if she could have a drink.
"Sure," Lyra jumps up. "What would you like...we have water, flavored water, energy drinks, uhmm sodas, I think and Gatorade."
"Ohhhh water is just fine...uhmmm sparkling if you have it," Cami asks shyly.
Before Lyra can move I jump up and block her way. "Let me get it, I say. What would you like, Lyra?"
Lyra gives me a harsh look before saying, "Just some water, please, no ice,"
"Okay, one sparkling water and one plain water with no ice coming right up," And I rush out of the room to fulfill their orders. Maybe, just maybe this will help me a little in getting me back into her good graces. Although I'm not holding my breath.
Lyra:I don't know what Trenton's playing at and it's wreaking havoc with my brain. He completely destroyed me and left me a trembling sobbing mess and now...now he's being all kind and stuff. I can't figure him out. Hell. I can't figure any of them out. And God knows I don't even want to breach the subject of Tallis right now. Tallis had gone over to that horrible girl's place. He'd spent the night with her...or at least that is what was implied. He hadn't denied it either. No. I'm focused on Nationals now, I'd promised myself and Maksim and I can't break my promise. I have to do this. And getting distracted by...by....my stepbrothers is really, really bad idea.
"Lyra?" Cami's sweet voice asks.
"Yes?" Cami's cheeks are red, she looks embarrassed. "What is it, Cami. You can talk to me."
"I guess well, watching you was incredible, I've never seen anything like you on the ice before, Lyra. You were just incredible! But...I...well, I mean I know nothing about skating or training or anything like that. But is it uh, normal for well...coaches to be soooo....uh...."
"So what?"
"Uhmm I guess 'hands on,' It just seemed that he put his hands on you a lot."
I sigh. "Maksim, I mean Trener is a hands on Coach, he teaches best that way. He gets the most out of me that way, Cami."
"Ohhhh..." Cami still looks unconvinced but she drops the subject thank god.
"Two waters for two pretty girls," Trenton returns to the room and hands Cami her sparkling water and me my plain water. Cami's flush if possible deepens and I roll my eyes. God, she's such a flirt. Just another reason to stay away from him.
"Sooooo girls, we've finished calculus...let's have some fun."
"Some fun?" Cami asks a little hesitantly.
"We could go back to the ring and just, play."
"Play," I repeatedly stupidly, "I don't play on the ice, Trenton."
"Trent," he says quietly. "Call me Trent, Lyra."
I shake my head. "You're Trenton to me, now. And what do you mean play? How in the world do you play on the ice?"
Trenton's eyes brighten. "Let me show you! Hey you ever play hocked before?"
I draw back. "Ice hockey?"
"Yeah, the best kind, the only kind."
"Trenton, I don't know if that's the best idea."
Cami jumps up. "Oh Lyra, come one, can we?"
I sigh. Anything to bring Cami out of her shell is a good thing, even if it means I have to spend more time in the presence of my man-whore stepbrother.
"Fine, fine."
"Awesome!" Trenton grabs my arm and all but drags me out of the room.
"Wait, I can't skate in this?" I look down at my leggings and stretchy sweater and Trenton laughs.
"Sure you can. Come on. And you look great Cami, don't worry this is just for fun."
Fun? Fun on the ice. Well this would be a novel experience for me.
