Elena POV: I kept asking myself if I liked Stefan, even though we just met 3 days ago. Trying to avoid my mind about him, I stopped at the Bonnie's Bookstore. I could hear the little doorbell on top of the door ring, I began looking around. It was amazing to see all these books, most of them were worn out. But that's what I love about things like this, whether it be an ancient sculpture of some sort or a traditional book that was passed down from generation to generation. "Can I help you with anything?" A girly voice said. I turned around, only to find a brown skin girl. Her short dark brown hair, and her hazel brown eyes. "Umm I was just looking around. I gotta say, theirs a lot of neat stuff here." I said. She smiled, "Most of this stuff has been here for decades, their very ancient. But It's interesting to discover what had happened here in Mystic Falls." She said. She really reminded a little bit of me, how she had an interest of ancient history. "I've seen you at school, did you say you moved from Vegas?" She asked me. "Yup, my parents job transfered here." I said.  "Oh I'm sorry, my names Bonnie." She said. Her small hand gesturing me to hand shake her back, "Nice to meet you again, I'm Elena." I said. "So uhh you own this bookstore?" I asked. As I swifted my thumb on a shelf, showing specks of gray dust on my thumb. "Yup, well my grandma owns it. But I work here for her." She said. "Does your grandma ever come to the bookstore?" I asked her. "She's kind of paralyzed from the waist down, I work here while she pays the bills. I live with her." She said. "What happened to your parents?" I asked her. "My mom died giving birth to me, 2 years later my dad had a heart attack. So now I live with my grandma." She said. "Oh my god I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-" I said. "It's fine, I try not to think negative and show depression. At least I have my grandma." She said. "Your  stronger than me, I'm glad that your happy." I said. She giggled, "The thing is I don't have time to clean my bookstore and make it look presentable." She said. I thought of what she said, "I could come work for you, I mean this does look like it needs some upgrades." I said. Her eyes sparkled, and her smile was wide. "You would work for me? But I don't have money to pay you?" She said. "No need, your paying me the discovery of history. I can start tomorrow if you like?" I asked her. Her arms were wrapped around my neck, "Thank you thank you thank you!!!" She said happily. "Hey no problem." I said. "Oh I have to go, I'll see you tommorow Bonnie." I said to her. About to leave towards the door, "Elena wait!!" She said. I turned around, "Here I want you to have this." She said. Handing me a necklace, it was a locket with beautiful jewels and carvings. "This is my way of paying you back." She said to me. "This is beautiful, thank you." I said. I waved goodbye, driving pass her bookstore. What a nice little distraction that avoided me of  Stefan, I got to meet a nice person and I got a job.  "I'm home!!" I yelled. Slamming the front door, and running upstairs to my room. I opened my door, only to find my mom sitting on my bed. "Hey." She said. I dropped my bag on my dresser, "Hey." I said. "Elena come here." She said. Patting the bed, where she wanted me to sit. I sat next to her, we were going to have our "mother/daughter" talk. She looked at me, her brown eyes on mine. "I'm so sorry Elena." She said. "Mom It's ok, you were being my mom. That's what moms do." I said. "No Elena, its not ok. I should have listened to you, I should have listened to your opinion. I know sometimes I get hard on you, but I only do it out of love Elena. I just want you to have a normal life, a normal human life Elena." She said. I get why my mom was hard on me, she wanted me to have a happy life. A life where I didn't have to worry about the people who were after us. "Mom I will never in my immortal lifetime ever be mad at you. Your the one who gave me life. I know I'm not going to age physically, but I'm growing up mentally. I'm still learning mom, like a normal teenager we make mistakes. We do stupid things, but in the end of it all we learn from our mistakes. I know I'm not the perfect daughter you always wanted, but I know I have a mother who will help me in my life." I said. I think I accidentally made her emotional, because literally she was sobbing. She hugged me so tight, I felt like a orange being squeezed. But I could tell, she knew what I meant and how I feel. "I love you my Lena bug." She said. "Love you too mom." I said. That's what I loved about my mother, the soft side of her. She may be a total boss on the outside, but she is genuinely a unique person on the inside. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, shoot it was Stefan.
