Samantha's P.O.V

Life has a particular way of keeping you on your toes. It can take the people you love the most away, it can bring back people into your life who you would have rather not see again, or, in my case, it was your best friend's brother handing you over to the person who kidnapped you because your parents have a debt with him.

After the whole "Jess confronts Raymond" situation, Jacob and his little crew picked us up and drove straight to the airport and to what looked to be a jet that they owned. Cole, Jacob's right-hand man, told us we could go into the airport gift shop before we left where I got a thick book named Hidden History: The History Behind Slavery.

Jessica looked at me like I had grown two heads but I needed something to entertain me during the 22-hour flight; Jessica got a few snacks and a romance book called Perfect Chemistry; she took the following two books once she realized that it was a romance trilogy.

After about twenty minutes of waiting for take-off, we finally ascended off the earth and up to the sky. I was sitting in front of Jessica; she was in the middle of reading her book and was drinking a cup of coffee calmly, too calmly if you ask me. Especially when Tomas, the guy who was apparently obsessed with her, was sitting right next to her and wouldn't keep his eyes off of her.

I watched as he slowly leaned towards her and slowly and gently, oh so gently, caressed her arm; he lets out what sounds to be a sigh of relief as his fingertips touch her smooth rose like skin, looking as if he's now at peace. Jessica slowly looks up at him and although I notice a slight look of fear in her eyes, I also see comfort and peacefulness.

I watch in fascination as she gives him a shaky smile; one that says, "You make me feel safe but I'm still scared you will kill me in my sleep." He smiles slightly, almost as if he were sure he'd scare her off if he was too forward with her; he kisses the back of her hand softly, I'm pretty sure Jessica stopped breathing for a moment before he nodded towards her book.

Jessica lets out a shaky breath before going back to reading her book while Tomas kept looking at her as if she would disappear if he kept his eyes off of her for just one second. I shake my head and sigh before moving to stand next to Jessica.

"Hey Jess, can I speak to you for a bit?" I whispered, making sure Tomas doesn't hear me. She nods her head and walks off behind me. Once I'm sure we're far enough that nobody will hear us, I hug her and say, "What's going on between you and Tomas?"

I feel her tense for a second before she pulls away from me and looks away from me blushing, biting her lip she says, "I don't understand what you are referring to." I give her a look and make her look at me; she gives in.

"Okay, it's not that I like him. I don't know him like that yet, I'm just... intrigued. For some reason, I feel safe and secured when I'm around him and I'd like to know why. There is also the fact that he doesn't invade my personal space nor does he judge me and my condition." She says while looking back at him.

"Hey," I say, grabbing her arm and making her look at me. "It's completely fine if you like him. All I want is for you to be careful and happy. If in the end, he's what makes you feel safe, then I sure hope he doesn't hurt you because otherwise, he will have to live without a d*ck." I smile lightly when she laughs quietly. She sighs and hugs me tightly before running back to her seat.

I watch her take out a tissue to disinfect her seat; however, before she can do it, Tomas grabs her hands and tells her something while looking deep into her eyes. I watch her sit hesitantly; once she's on her seat, her face contorts into a painful expression as she struggles not to clean up the chair. I watch Tomas whisper things into her ear while slightly soothingly rubbing her leg; Jessica starts calming down and eventually stops panicking before going back to reading her book as if nothing had happened.

I smile softly. I've never seen her get through an episode so well, nor have I ever seen anyone handle said episode so calmly and patiently. Not many people can handle Jess the way Tomas just did. Somehow, I feel at peace knowing my best friend has someone in her life who understands her.

"He'll take care of her."

Yelping softly, I turn around to see Jacob leaning against the wall. I look at him puzzled before he nods towards Tomas and Jess.

"See how delicately he's treating her? As if-"

"As if she's made out of glass and will break if he touches her too rough or speaks too loud." I cut him off, finishing his sentence. He nods in agreement before saying, "I've never seen Tom treat anybody that way. And I've known him for a long time, he's not sensitive with or for anyone."

I nod and say, "I sure hope you're right. Jessica's been through enough heartbreak as it is."

I look back at him when I don't hear him say anything; he's watching me, studying me. He takes one step toward me causing me to close my eyes in fear. What if he slaps me again?

He moves a piece of my hair behind my ear and rests his hand on the side of my neck. I open my eyes and I stop breathing. He's so close. What if he bites my nose off? What if he decides he wants to torture me and chops me up into tiny little pieces? I watched fearfully as he smirks slightly before shaking his head and leaving me there alone to my thoughts.

"If I wanted to hurt or kill you, I would have done so already, Little one." He says as he walks away. Little one? I'm not little I think silently while pouting slightly. I scoff and shake my head and going back to my seat where I continue reading my book.

Jacob's P.O.V

Sweet Jesus, this paperwork will be the death of me. I groan and run my hands through my hair while leaning back against my chair and sighing in frustration.

We landed about three hours ago and we are now staying at a safe house here in New Zealand. I went straight to my office; this is where I spend most of my time, given the fact that someone has to do the paperwork for the idiotic messes the men in my gang make for no reason at all.

I stand up and walk toward the liquor cabinet, grab a bottle of the strongest scotch I can find and pour it into a glass. I take a sip of the drink and grab a box of cigarettes as I make my way to my desk where I grab the bottle of aspirin. Taking one tablet of the aspirin, I pop it in my mouth and down it with another sip of my scotch; I then light up a cigarette and take a long drag of it, allowing the smoke to go into my lungs while going back to signing papers.

I hear a knock on my door and I grunt a "come in" before the door opens revealing Tomas and Cole, each with a drink on hand. I go back to signing the paperwork as they sit down in front of me.

"What do you want? Can you not see I'm busy?" I ask gruffly not looking up from the documents I'm currently going over.

"Yeah, we just wanted to come and tell you that we found them," Cole said after taking a sip of his beer. Tomas nods saying, "They thought they were being slick but they stayed at one of your hotels. The doorman gave them away."

I hum in appreciation and lean back on my chair breathing in deeply before letting out the smoke from the cigarette before putting it out and standing up.

"Let's go get my money," I say walking out of the office with Tom and Cole following closely behind me.
