Samantha's POV

I sighed tiredly as we made our way out of the plane and walked towards the baggage claim. We take our bags and walk towards the main exit.

As we go down the escalator, we see Raymond holding up a sign that says, 'Herrera and Johnson'

Jessica and I smile when we see him and squeal when we reach the floor. We rushed over to him and hugged him tightly. He hugs us back and lets out a deep breath before saying, "oh, I missed you babies"

Jessica and I laugh before saying, "We missed you to Ray. you don't know how glad we are to be here"

Raymond chuckles and grabs two of us before saying, "well then, let's go. Food and a pool are awaiting you both"

Jessica squeals and says, "great cause I'm starving!"

Raymond and I chuckle as Jessica skips off in front of us to the car. I grab one of the bags while Raymond carries two- one on his shoulder and one on his hand- he puts his arm around my shoulders and we walk towards the exit.

"So tell me, what was so important that you had to fly up here?" Raymond asks.

I sigh and say, "it's a long story." Raymond chuckles and says, "we've got three hours of traffic to kill. I'm pretty sure we'll have enough time to catch up."

"Ray, did you disinfect the car seats before leaving?" Jessica asks as Raymond and I put the bags in the trunk of his car.

"Yes, Jess I disinfected the back seats before I left. Will you please get in the car now?" Raymond says while I get into the passenger seat. Ten minutes later, after Raymond finally convinced Jess to get inside the car, we drove off to his house.

"So... are you going to tell me the reason you called me?" Ray asks after three minutes of Jessica's ranting about hygiene. I sigh and say, "We just missed you and wanted some time away from my parents."

He looks at me suspiciously before saying, "okay. Well, you're welcome to stay as long as you need."

I know I probably should have told him the real reason why we called him. I just... can't. I don't want my best friend to die because of me. So if the only way to keep him safe is not telling him the truth, then so be it.

I met Raymond when Jessica was first placed as my roommate. He had pulled me aside and threatened me to treat Jessica the best I could or he would make my life a living hell.

This is what happened...

...

"Hello! I'm Jessica. Jessica Wilson." She said extending her hand out to shake mine and I do the same out of respect.

To be honest, I never really wanted a roommate. I like having my own space so I hope this girl doesn't invade my privacy.

"Samantha, nice to meet you." I said, "I hope you like it here. It's not much but I get by." She smiled at me before skipping inside the room. I look back out the door to see this beautiful, tall, muscular man standing in front of me.

I asked, "Can I help you?"

He rolled his eyes and very rudely said, "I'm Raymond Wilson. Jessica's older brother." Wait a minute. Raymond Wilson? Raymond Wilson is my roommate's brother? Holy shit.

"You're-"

"Yeah, yeah I'm Raymond Wilson. Now listen well and listen carefully little girl. My sister is special. She's an amazing girl and she'll do amazing in life. If I hear that you made her shed at least one tear, I will make sure nobody ever knows your name. Is that understood?" He snapped, cutting me off completely.

I stood there looking at him shocked for a while before snapping out of it and saying, "sure." He nodded his head once and said, "Good. I must get going now. Be safe, my darling Jessica. I love you."

"Love you too RayRay!" Jessica said, smiling from behind me as I closed the door still a little shocked at the entire situation. I look back at her clapping my hands together and saying, "So, wanna go get something to eat?"

...

And that is how I learned that Raymond and Jessica are related.

Yup, you heard right. Raymond is Jessica's older brother. Raymond is the only one from their family, besides their grandparents, who did not treat Jessica as if she was some kind of parasite. He along with their Nana and Papa have always defended her from her parents, uncles, aunts, and cousins whenever they were being assholes to her.

I smile as we finally parked in front of Raymond and Jessica's cabin. Their grandparents arranged for them to have a house of their own and decided to make it in the woods right in front of a lake because it helps Jessica calm down during her episodes. Raymond and I chuckle as we hear Jessica's squeal of happiness when she sees her garden is still in order since the last time she worked on it.

She rushes me into the house after we step out of the car saying she wanted to swim in the lake with me.

Yeah... we'll be okay.
