Anu (Heaven) Present Day
I groggily awoke with a pounding pain in my neck and bright light shining in my eyes. "Dimitri?" I rasped.
"Even drugged you still call for him." Tiberius's voice had me blinking away the fog to see him clearly.
His wings were folded at his back as he stood stiffly in a white suit and with a glass of wine in his right hand. He had taken what was supposed to look like a comfortable pose with his left leg over his right on a marble bench, but he still appeared uncomfortable and jumpy.
"Oh shit." I realised where I we were upon spying the idyllic fluffy clouds, flat grassy surface and sweeping orchards. "Why I am here?" I addressed him.
"Because you've upset your family." He sipped at his glass leisurely.
I tried to move and was prevented by enchanted chains that had wound me tightly against the trunk of an apple tree.
"And this involves you because...?"
"Because they've given me what I want." He replied smugly. "Money and a place to stay." He gestured widely.
I laughed. "You fuckin' idiot!" I exclaimed. "Heaven sure sounds fun, but don't let this Sumerian version fool you. This place is just like your Christian godfather's."
"What do you know?" He snapped in a way that truly did remind me of his father. "Do you even know why I betrayed you? Do you even care about what you did to me?"
I shrugged. "No and no." I answered.
He sat his glass down beside him before standing to saunter his way over to me. "Let me refresh your memory." He leaned over me; his arm braced over my head on the trunk. He released a breath that had be turning my head as far away as I could. "You aborted my daughter." He breathed by my ear.
I frowned, turning back to look up into his eyes, a memory reflecting back at me.
Dragon Realms
Killing Season
I clutched my stomach, nausea gnawing in my throat with the urge to upheave what I had eaten the night before.
'Are you okay?' Bryn asked as she finished counting the coins from the horde, we had pilfered three days ago.
'I'm fine.' I turned away from her, a fire burning inside me.
'I thought you didn't get sick?'
'I don't.' I whirled on her. 'I just-I just need a moment.' I wiped the sweat from my brow.
Bryn got up in a huff. 'Let me look at you.'
'No.' I waved her away. 'I swear that I'm fine. I'm just a little hungover.' I crossed the small room.
'You haven't drunk anything in three days.' She was far too smart for her own good.
'It's nothing.' I swatted her hands away from me.
'Have you done anything different recently?' She eyed me suspiciously.
'You would know.' I retorted, wrapped my arms around myself defensively.
'Sex.'
'Ew.' I shivered.
'Tiberius.'
'Ew again.' I leaned away from her.
'Is there any possible chance that you could be...'
