Planet: Meridian
Blood Moon
I returned my focus to the present, after staring intently into the memory the broken mirror beheld before me.
"Stellar?" Dimitri knocked on the door.
I had no idea how long he had been standing outside.
"What part of leave me the fuck alone don't ya understand?" I unlocked the door and flung it open.
"You told me you were going to lie down." He argued.
"I lied." I pushed past him to go find a random room to disappear in. "Go cry about it somewhere else." I tried a doorknob and cursed at finding it to be locked.
"You left this upstairs." He revealed the purple folder he had been hiding behind his back.
"Did you read it?" I approached him.
"No." His mouth twitched.
"I'll kill you." I snatched it from him before whacking him over the side of the head with it.
"You were different when you met him." He tried to reason.
"I'm exactly the same!" I hit him again. "Worse!"
"You're overreacting."
I shook my head at him. "Do you hear yourself?"
He leaned against the bathroom door. "Do you wanna talk about this?"
"I wanna kill." I responded honestly.
"Look, everyone else is busy upstairs talking about why Angels fall from heaven-which means they'll be up there until God falls himself." He gestured to the staircase behind me. "If you wanna say anything to me, you can say it now. I'm here to listen."
I rolled my eyes. He was way too comfortable talking about emotions. I was about to curse him out again when I realised that there was actually something that I had been meaning to ask him.
"Why do you choose to stay by me?"
His face was stoic, and a million regrets started to weasel their way into my mind.
"I mean, I remember our time together." I continued. "I cheated on you-like a lot." When he still didn't speak I felt the urge to continue to fill the silence. "You knew?"
"I did." He answered simply, unfazed by my admission.
"Why didn't you say anything, or beat on me?" I was confused as to why it didn't bother him.
"Because I loved you." He smiled softly. "And I knew what I was getting into with you."
"You knew I was a cheater. You knew I would let you down."
"No-no at all." He was quick to but in.
"Yeah, yeah it was like that. You read my file, I'm Aromantic." I spoke the word as if it were poison on my tongue. "I can't love, I'm barely a being at all."
"That's not true." He refuted.
"But it is." I opened my file to find the page to refresh his memory.
"Stellar." He moved to stop me.
"Let me find it!" I flicked through.
"Please." He insisted.
In my haste I dropped half the papers on the floor. "Just let me find it!" I dropped to the floor.
"I didn't leave you." He bent down opposite me so he could meet my eyes. "Because you always came back to me. You never cared for the strangers you spent time with. You always came back, always." He spoke with such emotion I couldn't look away from his eyes. "Right up until...you left for good."
