"So... What do you think'll happen now?" Helena asked carefully. "Could be anything. Lucan doesn't seem like the type to just give up on something he wants." Jasper said in resignation. "So we should be preparing for it! Finding a place to stay or train or anything other than sit around like targets!" Neptune growled. I watched the debate unfold taking bites of the food I'd ordered still distracted by what had happened. They were right though where would we go from here? I'd told my parents I was helping some friends with something and that might be believable for today and maybe tomorrow but they would end up worrying or worse be dragged into this whole mess and I couldn't just return home with 5 fugitives or leave them here.

15 minutes later I was facing possibly the most brazen plan ever. Step 1: Go home and say I needed to leave for a couple of weeks to help some friends with a project. Step 2: break into and set up base in this old block of flats that was too dangerous to house people in but still had "historic value" somehow and couldn't be torn down. Step 3: Have juniper's psychic ability act as an early warning system to tell us when the place was being searched.

Ok so no one could think of a good alternative and there was nothing saying it wouldn't work but I was having second (and third) thoughts especially when I found out that Lucan technically owned the flats. "Look at it this way." Jasper had said "If we break anything he'll have to pay for it."

Most of it was already broken but we cleared out the 3rd floor the best we could picking it because it wouldn't be immediately obvious if anyone entered through the front door and it would give us floors to retreat too if needed. I used a half used can of spray paint I'd found to mark out the spaces where the floorboards sounded like they were about to give way. "I've been thinking all our powers have been instinctively growing since things started to kick off so what happens if they never stop growing?" Juniper asked. "We use them to make sure no one can control us and then we save the world in our own way." I answered. It was what I was planning on doing at any rate. "So like anti heroes?" Neptune considered. "In a way we always were." Jasper announced.

I went back to the interior design. When we'd trained up our powers it would be up to all of us to decide what to do next even whether to stay as a team or strike out on our own. There was safety in numbers sure but there was a lot of tension around the fact we now had real powerful villains after us and we were quickly running out of resources. I had however refilled my backpack with necessities when I had temporarily returned home so we were probably good for a couple of weeks.

Jasper and Adam disappeared to one of the higher floors for a few hours and came back with a very dusty laptop they had managed to get working. "I seriously doubt this building still has internet connection." I said. "Nope but the neighboring buildings probably do and it is ridiculously easy to steal WiFi. A lot of people don't even bother setting up passwords." Jasper answered. I let them get on with it having found out the hard way at school I wasn't particularly good with computers (other than video games but that was besides the point.)

Jasper did manage to get it connected and opened up a news site. "Oh the news. I'm sure that will be delightful." Helena snarked. He ignored her and opened up the tech and business sections. "Now if there is any releases from Lucan's businesses we'll get a hint about what he's working on." He declared. "Wait one moment." Juniper insisted as they reached over to type something into the laptop bringing up a page about the town they'd previously moved to. They scanned the page but there wasn't anything about the previous events other than the supposed forest fire and 2 day lockdown. Lucan had covered it up which made me wonder what other events he had covered up before.

There was nothing else to do but start training our powers and preparing for what was to come.
