"Once for fear, once for hate and once for hope. Some people don't even survive being remade once."

When I opened my eyes he was standing there, the wraith form not the warrior king. I wasn't sure where to start so I just got straight to the point. "Is it true? Am I going to end up like all the other revenants?" He waited for a moment "That's completely up to you. You seem to be the first of many things. The first true witch revenant and the first one to ever stop." He answered. Now I was even more confused. "What do you mean by that?" I asked. "The reality Atalanta showed you was directed by your mind. Even with all that hate your first instinct was to help the people in despair because of the current world order and when you were fighting the champions of the 3 you were thinking "what if humanity is finally united" that's why you woke up." Pestilence explained.

So I'd only woken up at all because I thought humanity might finally be united against it's threats but then... "Every time I feel hope that humanity can be good. That there is only a few people to blame they do something that hurts anyone who isn't one of them." I'd made the mistake of reading the news on my phone when walking up to the castle trying to find out what had happened when I was out and it hadn't been at all pleasant. I wondered how many dozens or hundreds of times the white horseman had seen the cycle of history play out. "Every time I hope and they prove me wrong it just kills me inside!" I was almost shouting now.

"So what will you do now?"

Where I was now I could easily make a new life in the hidden places in the world and take my friends and family with me and just let the conflicts play out. We'd survive easily with the powers the Nebula has but then what? Lucan or Atalanta would end up ruling the world along with those who supported them, the world would still burn in our lifetime or the next because neither seemed the kind to care about the natural world and then there was the humans and mythicals who couldn't even run.

Here I was with all this power and it still came down to the same choice. Damn it... "No matter how it turns out I have to try and fight for us and myself."

Pestilence nodded as if he was waiting for me to make that decision all along "There was one more thing you wanted to know wasn't there?"

"Why would you save a witch who had spent 13 years trying to save the world?" I asked. "All these powerful people standing in your way, most of them oblivious to your existence and you said "I'll find my own way to fight and survive no matter what." A mouse bringing down kings, there is no tale I like more."

The wraith vanished, I picked up the scarf and returned home. The storm was about to break.
