Running for his life. Running away from the company that his family had built, that he had made famous because of something he couldn't control. So that's what it feels like... No he was angry for even thinking of comparing himself to them. No matter how much he tried to deny it however it was true that his greatest fears were coming true partly due to his own actions.
There was a reason for all these lies. Tell everyone the same lies: That they are special, important and have some bright future and for most of them by the time they realize it was all a lie they just accept it and get on with their lives perhaps some of them have resentful thoughts but thoughts alone don't mean anything. At least for normal humans. Maybe 1 in 10,000 or even 1 in 100,000 actually speak out but in small numbers like that they aren't a threat. They'll die from starvation unless they play along. Lucan thought about what happened if he told the world the truth. That they weren't important, wouldn't be remembered and would spend their lives working in some menial job for him or a lesser version of him. Perhaps there would be more resentment but in the end it wouldn't make them bulletproof. Still it would make his life more difficult so why chance it.
The mythicals and now Atalanta never played by these rules, searching for any form of power to either escape or shatter the system. Now Atalanta didn't think she needed him anymore because of her hologram trick and great speech fake him had given to the nation. The insulting part was it was pretty close to his actual plan to reveal and use the threat to the nation. Atalanta could kill anyone she wanted and all she would have to do is name them as a mythical only in the original plan he was supposed to be part of it.
Lucan was left with only one option. The box from storage room 7 currently sitting next to him in the bullet proof car driving across the country, never staying in one city for more than a couple of hours, on a very roundabout route to the town where they first found that damn cryptid. Inside was a weapon that would either finally blackmail the mythicals into an alliance with him or scuttle both their and the AI's plans in one go and end the supernatural threat for good.
