Ready to Hunt

I sit in line with the other 5 month pups My mom is assigning us teachers, she calls the mentors though. I hope I can get a fun one so far Cosmo got stuck with Twitch that can barely stay still for 2 seconds, and Rex is stuck with Chuck he is the most boring wolf ever Chuck is going to turn the most silly and playful pup into the most boring and stern pup.

I really hope I get Bow or Crystal they are fun and loyal. "Alright next Lilly your mentor will be..." she pauses to think for a moment. "You'll be with Soarin." She says and I sigh 'I really wanted to get crystal shes so nice' I think to myself 'well I geuss soarin isn't that bad though I dont know him very well.' I look up to see a large gray wolf greeting me. "Hi I'm soarin its nice to meet you." He says to me cheerfully.

I look over to Bog who has the biggest smile on his face then I see crystal walking over to him "lucky" I mutter under my breath. "Look im sorry I'm not who you wanted to get but im going to try my best." I look to him and he looked at me with pleading eyes. "Alright let's see what you got" I say to boost his spirits. He looks at me happy

"Why don't we start now, come on let's head to the lake." He leads me to where the lake is and there are deer and mice and wolves from every pack drinking the fresh water. "This looks fun!" I say and start looking around to see if I can find Luka. "You lookin for somethin?" Soarin questions "ummm no?" I quietly say "you sure?" He says and I stay quiet.

"Alright why don't we get a drink and start working on technique." He offers I give a quick nod and joyfully run to the water it tastes so cold and fresh. "Okay are you ready?" He says "ready as ill ever be!" I say excitedly and we walk a few feet from the water "Like this." He says then crouches down in a stalking position. "Now you always want to stay downwind of your prey so they don't get your scent then you want to stalk them." He explains.

I then copy his position and out of the corner of my eye I see a black figure in the near distants. "Alright why don't you try it out on something?" He asks me I nod then look toward the figure and notice that its Luka "alright I know exactly who im going to try it out on." I respond.

Then I slouch down and start stalking towards Luka luckily already downwind once I get close enough I pounce once I'm in mid air I hear Soarin yell "Wait, Lilly, No!" He yells and I land with a soft landing Soarin runs to me "gochya!" I say to Luka and he let's out a low grumble "Lilly come hear you might get hurt!" Soarin barks frantically "awww come on im just playing around." I say sadly Luka stands up protectively half in front of me "who is this? Luka asks me.

Luka's POV.

I get up from under Lilly and gaurd her from this male wolf ive never seen before. "Who is this?" I question protectively and I give the gray wolf a stare saying dont you dare come near her.

"He.. he is my mentor." Lilly stutters out I finally breathe realizing I was holding my breath I glance at Lilly then at the wolf "his name is soarin." She whispers

I step aside letting her through "You scared me to death!" He snarls at her and her ears flatten and her eyes go wide obviously terrified "Hey! You leave her alone!" I growl at him and Lilly glances over at me then steps closer "Dont scare her! She's my... my best friend!" I struggle to get the last part out

"So umm don't you dare hurt her!" I snap at him Lilly's eyes are wide starring at me not knowing how protective I get and harsh I can be. "He's a full grown wolf be carefull." She peeps out I do a slight nod and stare back at soarin. "Lilly let's go your supposed to be training!" Soarin growls at her I turn to her and give her a nuzzle as a see you later... hopefully.

Lilly's POV.

I looked at Luka with sad eyes then slowly walked back to Soarin with my tail between my legs. "You said you were going to try your best to be a good mentor..." I squeaked out

Soarin looked at me apologetically "I know I was just worried that you were going to get hurt." He said apologizing just then my stomach rumbles "guess your hungry then?" He chuckles out and I look away embarrassed "perfect teaching opportunity. You'll do better with the motivation of hunger." He laughs at the last part.

"Try that sparrow over there." He quietly says I crouch down and stalk the bird i slowly walk toward it and just before it flew away I jumped and grabbed it. "I got it! I got!" I cheered "good job now enjoy the meal." He says excitedly.

After eating we walked back to the com 'I wonder if Luka is okay' my mind races thinking about if Luka is alright after the encounter with Soarin I didn't even know Luka could be so aggressive towards well anybody.

We make it back to com and I see Rex sleeping as Chuck lectures him and Cosmo is running in circles while Twitch is bouncing off the trees. "Hope your having fun boys!" I bark at them and Rex tries to respond but can't catch his breath to do so.
