It was the first day of practice after getting their new groups. They had yet to really introduce themselves and decide on their song so it was the time to do so.
It was just minutes before 8AM when three girls make their way into the vocal team's practice room, one right after the other, and start warming up. Although they didn't say much, the atmosphere still seemed very calming and bright, as if they were comfortable with one another.
"Should we introduce ourselves while we wait for the others?" The oldest of the three, and the oldest of the group, Jinyo suggested.
The other two girls look at each other before replying with nods and smiles.
"Well, I'm Jinyo, the oldest on the show after Jisoo." Jinyo started.
The two girls snicker before making their introductions.
"I'm Chingyi." The kind girl said.
"Are you Taiwanese?" Jinyo asked out of curiosity.
"Yes." Chingyi replied with a nod.
"That's cool~" Jinyo said, causing Chingyi to giggle before moving onto the third and final introduction.
"I'm Yuri." The final one said.
"Is your personality as bright as your hair?" Jinyo asked with a snicker.
Yuri looked down at her bright orange hair that hung down her chest before snickering.
"I like to think so, yes." Yuri said.
As the three girls are laughing over Yuri's relation to her hair, the door opens and in walks an introverted Joomyun.
"Hello, I'm Joomyun." She muttered as she bowed respectfully.
"Nice to meet you, Joomyun." Jinyo said with a smile.
Joomyun took a seat beside Chingyi, a member she was close to after working in the same team previously, and started to warm up. As the four continued small conversation, the final trainees walk into the room just two minutes later at almost the exact same time.
"Hello~" One smiled as she bowed. "I'm Araki, I hope you guys take care of me well~"
"Cute." Yuri smiled.
"I-I'm Bora." The last one stuttered as she bowed shyly.
"Bora's a shy one so take care of her well, too." Jinyo giggled as she motioned for Bora to sit by her.
They all sat in a circle, warming up as they went through introductions one last time. After warming up, they start to discuss what song to sing.
"We're a vocal team so we need to really show our vocals." Yuri said.
"But pick a song that we all know." Araki chimed in, not confident in how well she can speak Korean.
"Any suggestions?" Jinyo asked.
Everyone started to pitch in their ideas. After a long discussion, they narrowed it down to their top five choices: Diff.rent's I Got A Heartbeat, RC's Yellow Card, Hello Stupid, RC's First Rest, OutKasts' No Other Guy But You, and OutKasts One and Only. After much discussion and thoughts, they decided on RC's Yellow Card, Hello Stupid because they all enjoyed the song, knew the lyrics, and felt there was a lot they could work with with it.
"Okay, so we've decided, then?" Jinyo asked the group.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"How are we going to separate the lines?" Yuri asked. "It's a solo song so it might be hard to divide amongst a group."
"I have that covered." Jinyo said, already a step ahead of everyone. "I just need to see everyone's vocal cords."
Everyone agreeing with Jinyo's leadership, they all showed their vocal skills. After doing so, Jinyo took some time to separate the song into even parts. While she did so, the other five trainees discussed the type of stage they should perform.
After about an hour, Jinyo rejoined the group with two options of line distributions. After much discussion, they chose one and started to practice their individual parts.

~Mentor Day~
The six girls walked into the practice room where they were meeting the mentors, only to find KND's Eunbyul and another female sitting at the table. The six trainees saw the female and started to gasp, quickly greeting out of admiration. Eunbyul and the guest both stood up to greet the trainees.
"Hello girls." Eunbyul greeted the trainees. "I heard you girls were performing a solo by a Royal Colors member, right?"
"Yes~" The girls responded.
"Great." Eunbyul smirked. "To help me judge you guys today, I invited the owner of your song, Chewy from Royal Colors."
"Hey guys." Chewy smiled bright, bowing and waving to the trainees. "I'm honored that you chose my song and I will do my best to help you guys."
The girls greeted Chewy with smiles and giggles.
"Do you girls have a copy of your distribution?" Eunbyul asked.
Always prepared, Jinyo handed Eunbyul a copy. The two judges took their seats and read over the distribution.
"Jinyo, you don't sing until the very end?" Eunbyul asked.
"Correct." Jinyo nodded.
"Why?" Eunbyul asked.
"We thought we should have a member sing at the end for a big lead up for a bigger effect." Yuri explained. "And we decided Jinyo because she fit the part best."
Eunbyul didn't say anything, just nodded to show she understood.
"Alright, let's hear each of your vocals." Eunbyul said.
The music started and the girls sung the song as if they would on stage. After about three minutes, the mentors started to speak, Eunbyul motioning for Chewy to speak first.
"I like the arrangement you guys prepared." Chewy said. "But some of you have stronger vocals than others so you'll have to do your best to make it work, no offense."
"We understand." Jinyo said.
Chewy looked at Eunbyul to tell her she was finished speaking.
"I'll be honest." Eunbyul spoke. "It was better than I thought it would be. As a vocal group, you guys chose a song that doesn't show off strong vocals, so I was worried, but if you continue to practice, and if you pick the right kind of stage presence, I think you guys could really hit them with emotions and make first place. But you have to really pull it off, do you understand?"
"Yes." The girls all nodded.
"Okay, then." Eunbyul said. "I want to hear each of your parts individually, if you don't mind."
The vocal group continued their session with their mentor and guest mentor, getting suggestions and advice to help them while still being praised. They left feeling good but knowing they had to really pull off an emotional stage.
