chapter ten

just a little bit of talking things over in this chapter. also thank you guys so much for the votes and comments, they mean a lot and motivate me to write more. i feel like i finally have an actual plot, and i'm going to try and get into it. also sorry if there isn't much about the triwizard tournament or i forget stuff about it, as you might have guessed the story doesn't have that much to do with it.

third person pov

what had started as a relaxing afternoon for Alex was ending up as complete chaos and he couldn't help but wonder if he had done anything wrong.

I mean, he was glad that he had spent a lot of time with his favourite student, he just would
have liked it better under different circumstances, like one where they're both alone, or at least not in a pub where she had snuck in.

after a nice time of his best friend talking with sixteen year old kids and him basically trying to take the alcohol away from Eve, he was beyond exhausted.

on a normal night out he would be back at 4 am, but today since he kind of had to make sure they got back safely at 11 pm he said goodbye to Miles, who gave him a knowing smirk (let's just hope he doesn't know too much) and got in a carriage with the twins and Eve.

it would have been awkward just the four of them sitting for thirty minutes, but apparently Miles hadn't done such a good job in banning the alcohol, and so Fred and George were at least a bit drunk, laughing at their own jokes, which left Eve and Alex sitting side by side.

"i had a good afternoon, as weird as it sounds" Eve said, being the first one to break the silence. "yeah, i guess it wasn't bad" Alex replied, trying to not let it show how much fun and how happy he was that he had spent tiem with her.

"Miles seems like a nice guy" Eve said trying to make small talk "yeah, he's one of my best mates" Alex answered and the uncomfortable silence took over the carriage again, with the exception of Fred and George's little laughs and jokes.

"so, you too knew each other before school or.." "we actually met at Hogwarts, yes. it was our first year, and we were both in Slytherin. we got on well, and that's how it started" Alex finished, nostalgia in his eyes, and Eve smiled at his tone.

"i had a friend back in America you know." Alex sat back and listened to her soft voice "her name was Pandora, panda, and she was so, how should i put it, so sweet and naive. we were opposites but i still miss her" Alex smiled at her sympathetically "i'm sure you'll see her soon enough" Eve rolled her eyes "i'm not sure i want to go back to America"

Alex sensed it was a touchy subject and let it drop. maybe for another time. they both sat in silence, even though it wasn't uncomfortable, both of them thinking away. 

they soon reached Hogwarts and Fred and George tripped and fell on the floor when they opened the door. "get them up before someone hears us" whispered Alex trying to make them stop giggling "ugh why are you guys so heavy" Eve huffed as she finally got Fred up and Alex helped George.

now it was time for the real challenge, all of them getting back to their common room without getting caught. at least the three students.

they made their way quietly into the school and escaped from Filch's cat once, and soon enough it appeared that they were finally in front of the Fat Lady. "well, i guess that's enough for our nights adventure" Eve teased "i guess so" Alex smirked and prepared to say good night.

only that as the fat lady's portrait was opening they heard a mewl and a man walking "shit it's filch!" Eve said and the four of them got into the common room. it was actually the first good decision they had made in the whole afternoon, because they were pretty sure that Filch wouldn't have liked to learn what the four of them were doing at the corridors so late, and two of them drunk.

Fred and George passed out in the sofa in the common room and Alex and Eve sat again, waiting to stop hearing filch whisper "i know you're here, somewhere", because truth be told, it was kind of creepy and horror movie material, not i-just-want-to-go-to-bed material.

again, the silence between both of them was starting to feel a bit forced and this time Alex began the conversation. "and what were you guys actually planning to do tonight?" Eve raised an eyebrow at the question "i mean, was it simply trying to go to a pub and see if you could get in or was there an actual reason?" shut up Alex, she doesn't give a shit about what you think and isn't going to tell you anything.

"i don't know, i guess we were bored and they mentioned a pub, and i'd never been to one, so we just went for it. i guess if we hadn't met you inside, we would have probably ordered a couple of shots, like we were when you found us, and simply have a bit of fun" she smiled slightly when she saw his face scrunch in annoyance "what, like you never drunk underage? because i would honestly be surprised if you didn't" now he blushed slightly and she smiled triumphantly "but it's not the same" Alex started and Eve groaned again. enough lecturing sir! just please marry me because you're literally so attractive and the fact that you care about me is not helping...

"hello? are you even listening to me ?" Alex waved a hand in front of her face "yeah yeah sorry, got a bit distracted" by how handsome you are "you know i was just thinking, that this is the second time i've ever been in the gryffindor common room" "really? you didn't have many friends in gryffindor?" Alex laughed and shook his head "we didn't have any friends in gryffindor actually. so one night, me and miles sneaked into this common room to prank some gryffindors. we had a really great time, and it was totally worth the detention we got later"

"ahaa!" Eve pointed at him "you did get detention" he laughed and put his hands up "guilty as charged. although i have changed a lot from my old school kid persona" now Eve was interested in this "oh really? and what exactly were you, in the school cliché?" Alex looked down at her and smirked "well, between teachers i had a reputation of being an extremely brilliant and intelligent student, but apparently people my age though of me in a different way" eve raised an eyebrow, again, hoping he would just get to the point.

"according to most males at school, i was a star player, even though the reputation of being a Slytherin kind of made me enemies wherever i went, but girls simply called me a player"  Eve scoffed, she should have predicted it "so you're basically a fuck boy?" "were" corrected Alex with a twinkle in his eyes at her vocabulary "actually im pretty sure it's hard to let go of old habits, i'd know"

Alex rolled his eyes, what could this little girl possibly know about his life and why he did things. but before he could answer, they heard that Filch was moving on.

"i'll leave now before he can come back"

and with that, Alex left a confused and thoughtful Eve and two sleeping teens.
