chapter nineteen

"I hope you enjoyed that"

Eve turned around to find a very pissed Alex "What the hell are you talking about?" she said slowly, trying to understand what was going on. "Oh come on Eve, don't play stupid. The attention, the drama! Do tell me how you liked that?" He didn't look any less handsome, but his voice was sharp and strong with accent, and his hair was getting stuck to his face, the rain pouring harder.

"Excuse me? This ass just beat up my best friend, and you're asking me if I enjoyed it?" she couldn't believe what she was hearing. Maybe everyone was high today or on something. "Oh drop the act, little Miss Innocent. I've seen you flirting with that french guy, making him get his hopes up, just so you can go-" "Seen Me? Getting his hopes up? What the fuck are-" "Do not cuss at me Eve, I will remind you that I am-" "No, seriously, what the fuck? I never told him I wanted anything with him, we've only know each other for two weeks? And he gets to beat up my best friend?" They screamed at each other, getting closer and wetter, since the light rain was turning into an obvious storm, hearing the thunder rumbling above.

"And you have the fucking audacity to tell me off-" Eve was cut off by a pair of lips on hers, her eyes going wide as she felt as if the oxygen was getting drained from her lungs. It didn't last long, with Alex quickly pulling apart "I told you to not cuss at me-" he started angrily, but this time he was the one cut off, Eve standing on her tippy toes and grabbing his head, both of them kissing hard. When they pulled away, both of them were having trouble breathing. "I'm-I" Eve started, blinking and trying to breathe normally.

"Fuck" Alex said too, running his fingers through his hair (or at least trying to, since the rain had made it wet), and they both stayed in silence for a moment, the air electric around them, but at least the tension a bit less strong. They were pulled out of their haze as a thunder rumbled way too close to them. "I'm sorry Eve, it was an accident. I-" Alex started rambling. Truth is, they were both at loss for words, and could now feel the chill entering their bodies. Eve felt like she could fly: the guy she had a crush on liked her back? and had kissed her? 

They started running back towards the castle, both of them now soaking wet, and Eve started laughing, maybe she was going crazy, but she was loving it. Alex looked at her and joined in, feeling like a kid again. They arrived at the door panting, and stayed under the roof for a little before going inside. "So, um we should talk-" Eve started, looking at Alex, when a curly haired girl interrupted them "Oh God, I have been looking everywhere for you! Do you know how worried I was? Not knowing if another french nutter took you or something!" she screamed, shutting up when she saw a soaked Alex next to her "Oh, sorry Professor, I didn't know you were together. I mean, I was looking for Eve" she ranted, nervous at being alone with a teacher outside class. "It's fine 'Mione, Al- I mean Professor Turner was explaining something to me" Eve said quickly "And when we tried to get back it was raining too hard" (and we were also kissing pretty hard). She turned to face the handsome teacher, who gave a smirk "Thank you for the advice, Professor" she said, dragging the last word "You're always welcome to come if you have need anything " he replied, and Eve smiled as she was pulled into the building by her friend.

That night, Eve couldn't fall asleep. After the adrenaline high had worn off, she'd visited Fred at the Hospital Wing, who was lying down while the potion he had been given had effect on him, and ideally she had skipped dinner time, since she didn't want to bump into Alex. What now? Was he going to ignore her? Play it off as if nothing had happened? He obviously regretted it, as he had made clear, but he had told her to come if she needed anything, and he made her feel like no one did ...
