(this is old ew !! )
The description of the phantom thief they were following was scarily similar to the boy Shuichi was hanging out with. He kept his mouth shut every time they went after him on Thursday and Sunday nights. Every time they looked closely at the photos they took. "5'6, purple hair, deep voice." Kyoko would say. The photo's showed a similar body figure to his friend's, but 5'6 and deep voice? One inch didn't seem like the height gap the two had. "It's Thursday. We're going to attempt to catch him and Dice." "We keep trying and he keeps getting away," One said in response to Kyoko, "This is getting repetitive." 'My fault.' Shuichi thought. He'd been the one catching him and letting him go. Something about him made Shuichi feel strange. Something about the chipped purple nail polish on the thief's nails made him remind him of when him and Kokichi painted each other's nails. "We have to try again. He'll get tired at some point from us ruining his plans." She said, tapping her pen on the table. Shuichi knew he liked to be chased. This was his plans. They weren't ruining it; they were helping him. "Shuichi," Her voice caught his attention, "You're my most reliable detective here. I want you to catch him this time, or at least get more information." "O-Okay.." "Good. That's all for now. We'll meet back up at 9."

Shuichi opened his door and saw Kokichi standing in front of him. "Heyy Shuichi!!!!" "Hey, Kokichi.." "I'm gonna have to go a little earlier today if that's okayy--" "Yeah of course,," Shuichi said, inviting the short boy in. Kokichi was catching on to his suspicion. And he took it to his advantage. "Hmm,, so we have an hour to do whatever we wanna do... can we get ice cream??!" "But it's almost winter.." "Shushu!" He pouted, "Ice cream is ice cream!!!" He looked deep into Shuichi's eyes, shaking his fists. He *will* get that ice cream.  Shuichi smiled and sighed, grabbing his car keys. "Alright, let's go." "Yay!!!!!" The two slid into the car and Kokichi swung his feet back and forth before frowning, "I should've worn my platforms.." "Your platforms? I didn't know you had those types of shoes." "Shuuiichhiiii-- I thought you were a detective!!" He teased. "Of couurrseeee I would!! But don't think too much into it, 'kay?" 'Don't think about it? Platforms..' His thoughts went straight to the phantom thief. Platforms would make him taller. He glanced over to Kokichi, who was messing with some of the loose threads on his ripped jeans. He smiled and began to drive off.

"OOooh!! There's a grape one!!" Kokichi said excitedly, pointing at it through the glass. "Do you want it?" "Ew, no, I hate grape!!" He lied, looking up at Shuichi. The taller boy jokingly rolled his eyes and ordered their ice creams, Kokichi doing his signature laugh. "Here." Shuichi handed Kokichi his ice cream and smiled, already eating it. "Thanks, Shushu!" Shuichi smiled at the nickname and the two sat at a table outside. How long had Kokichi been using that nickname? It made them sound like a couple. He shook those thoughts out of his head and ate his ice cream, listening to whatever came to Kokichi's mind. "Y'know, Shuichi, I'm pretty decent at voice impressions."

"Are we ready?" Kyoko said, looking at the 5 detectives in front of her. She gave a specific glance to Shuichi, who nodded nervously. "Alright, let's go." The six of them walked down to the coffee shop to watch the street. Dice always went this way; and they could chase them right when they saw them. Shuichi kept a firm stare at the window. He wanted to see who this was. They suddenly saw a glimpse of a checkered pattern. Then one of them ran by. Then another. Then the one they were after with the rest behind him. Shuichi stood up and ran after them, not giving the others time to respond. The thief looked behind him and saw Shuichi. He was wearing a white suit with a purple undershirt and checkered tie, his white top hat and his mask everyone recognized as his, separating him from the rest of the group as the leader. Shuichi was catching up to him, and noticed his shoes. Platforms. "Catch me if you can, detective~!" He teased, running into an alleyway. Shuichi grimaced and ran in after him, the other detectives losing them. The phantom thief laughed kept making turns. The laugh was familiar to Shuichi. He shook the thought out of his head and kept track of where he was going. He ended up in a dead end. He improvised and climbed onto a ladder, pausing and looked behind him.  The others would have gotten him by now. Shuichi caught his breath as he looked up at him, holding the side of the ladder. The thief bent down and got closer to Shuichi's face. He tilted his head, "Thanks for letting me get away, Mr.Detective."
