It was a nice and sunny day out, and Michael had texted me a few minutes ago telling me to meet him in the park and wear something that I didn't mind sitting on the grass with.
I brushed my hair into a high ponytail and applied only foundation and a little mascara on my eyes. As I grabbed my purse, the phone buzzed with a new message.
Michael: Consider this our 5th date :)
I smiled, wondering what he had planned for this one. Thinking back on the past dates, I only imagined something incredibly thoughful yet simple. So far, he had taken me to the beach to watch the sunset, go-kart racing, to the movies and a nice Italian restaurant that I had never been to.
He truly was he sweetest and most thoughtful guy I had ever dated.
Closing the door behind me, I sighed, looking forward to the time I'd be spending with Michael.
The walk to the park was only about ten minutes, which gave me time to appreciate the beautiful cloudless sky.
I stood in front of the park entrance, looking around for him. I soon spotted his jet red hair and walked over to him, giving him a small wave as he noticed me.
"Michael!" I greeted him, but he held his palm up to stop me. I looked around, confused as he took the acoustic guitar he had lying beside him and placed it on his lap, beginning to strum it. He could play the guitar wonderfully, fingers moving all over the neck of the guitar as though he had done it a million times before.
I soon recognized the song he was playing, my heart fluttering. He was playing one of my favorite Ed Sheeran songs, Tenerife Sea. Memories of our first date flooded my mind, this song played while we were on our way to the beach, and I remembered telling him how this was one of my favorite songs.
He soon started to sing, and although he had told me he liked singing and playing the guitar, I had never heard him. His talent astonished me, his voice sounding like silk, wonderful and amazing all around me.
"You look so wonderful in your dress, I love your hair like that. The way it falls on the side of your neck, down your shoulders and back. We are sorrounded by all of these lies and people that talk too much, you got the kind of look in your eyes as if no one, knows anything but us. Should this be the last thing I see, I want you to know it's enough for me, 'cus all that you are is all that I'll ever need."
He played a few more chords on his guitar amd looked up to me, a small smile playing at his lips as he placed the guitar on the grass as he stood up, walking towards me and grabbing both of my hands.
I stood frozen, a dozen emotions coursing through me as he got down on one knee, and I panicked a little, not knowing what was going to happen next. He gave my hands a small sqeeze as he smiled, a big toothed grin.
"Ashlyn Mia Johnson," he said, taking a dramatic pause. "would you make me the happiest guy in the world and be my girlfriend?"
Of course I wanted to say yes, but it seemed as if I had forgotten how to speak and it feeled as though I couldn't even move. He was still kneeling in front of me, big smile beginning to fade as my inability to speak or move made it seem as though I didn't want to be with him.
Suddenly, it all clicked. Memories of our past dates and the times we have been together came flooding back, as I realized that no other boy had ever made me feel as important and beautiful as he had.
"Yes."
