Birthday

Marinette knew better than anyone that Adrien's track record with birthdays wasn't a happy one. He had confided in her that even before his mother disappeared, his birthdays were often nothing special. The only thing different would be the fact that his mother would make him pancakes in the morning and he would add a new pen to his collection.

That was why Marinette was determined for Adrien to have the best birthday of his life this year. Lord knows he deserved it.

"Wow! You're actually early today." Alya teased as Marinette walked up the steps to her, a clipboard under her arm and her bag filled with supplies.

"Of course."

"And I'm sure that this has nothing to do with a certain birthday that a classmate of ours is having?" Alya smirked, looping her arm around Marinette as they walked in.

"Actually, it has everything to do with that. I needed to be able to talk with our classmates about my plans while I still could. Adrien is often early, so I needed to be early too."

"Wait, seriously?" Alya asked.

"Yep! I want him to have the best birthday of his life today, I have a bunch of festivities planned out and I've even got the permission of Mme. Bustier."

"That's so sweet!" Alya cooed. "I swear if he doesn't ask you out after this, then you should just forget about him." Marinette flushed.

"Alya, I'm not doing this so that he likes me. I'm doing this because I want him to have a good birthday, he hasn't exactly had amazing birthdays. He told me that last year's party was his first ever party." Marinette said.

"You mean when Nino was akumatized?" Marinette nodded.

"Yep, but that all changes today! I got permission from Mme. Bustier to get rid of our first class plans for today and instead throw a party for Adrien."

"Really? Why didn't I know about this until now?" Alya glared at Marinette playfully.

"Because this was supposed to be a surprise and if I had told you, you would've told Nino and we both know how bad Nino is at keeping secrets." Marinette grinned. "But don't worry, I was on snack duty, Alix and Nath are on decoration duty, so we've got everything under control."

"Alright." Alya let out a sigh. "I guess that makes sense, but what would've happened if I hadn't shown up with a gift? I would've looked like a total jerk!"

"But you did show up with a gift, just like Nino and Chloe will. I knew that the risk of the people who would spill to Adrien not bringing a gift was incredibly low." Marinette said.

"Hmph. You're right, of course, but still. Why'd you keep it from me, Mare? My heart may never recover." Alya whined.

"Oh no, whatever shall I do to make it up to you?" Marinette said flatly.

"Date Adrien." 

"W-what?" Marinette sputtered.

"You heard me! You've liked him for over a year now and with how close you two have gotten recently-."

"He doesn't like me like that, okay?" Marinette cut in.

"He literally calls you his Princess! How could he not like you?"
