Chapter 20 - Trust Me

I quickly turned around to look at the voice.

I quickly turned around to look at the voice and gasped.

"H-Hanako?! What's with the uniform?!".

He looked at me strangely. "You shouldn't be going in there. It's against the rules".

I stared down at the ground. What was he talking about?

"Hanako... what're you trying to do?".

He shook his head. "I'm just reminding you Y/N. You don't want to get in trouble. Let's get to class, and please stop calling me that."

"Get to class..?".

He began to walk down the hallway, smiling at me in signal to follow.

I hesitated. I knew something seemed off after I woke up, but would he go this far to mess with me? I slowly began to follow him.

I wanted to know what was going on.

Eventually, we reached class; he seemed normal yet different the entire walk. It was like it was his normal self, but he was somehow living in the living world again.

"I'm at class... you can give up the act now."

"Act? You're the one acting weird Y/N".

He shook his head before heading into the classroom.

This was so confusing! What was he doing?

I followed him inside.

"Yugi! You took your time," I heard Akane say.

He's calling him by his real name? And he can see him?

"Y/N!".

I felt a weight slam into my back, wrapping itself around me tightly. Turning around, I saw Tsukasa, clinging to me happily.

He was wearing the uniform too, looking just like Hanako. It was as if I had awoken to a new world.

"Come with me!".

"To where, Tsukasa..?".

I knew that it was Tsukasa and Hanako still, but I don't know... they were different. Like they couldn't be trusted 100%.

I couldn't explain it.

"Y/N," Hanako had come over, smiling at me. "Me and Tsukasa would like to hang out with you after class".

"Mm... okay.."

I just hoped nothing turned out bad, at least after class I could question them both.

Class had ended, and I gathered up my things. While fitting everything into my bag, I remembered that me, Hanako and Tsukasa were going to 'hang out'.

I had a lurking feeling that something bad, or something that could lead to something bad, would end up happening.

During class, I found myself eyeing Hanako and Tsukasa. Their behaviour was pretty normal... but I could just sense something off.

"Y/N".

"Ah," I turned around, seeing Akane. "Yes?".

"There's someone at the door waiting for you," he replied, nodding his head toward the door. "They said to come get you quick, and to not tell you who they were for some reason..."

"Oh. Alright, thank you".

Confused, I pulled my bag on and made my way to the door. I wonder who it could be? Could it be someone that knows what's going on?

"Sorry to keep you waiting," I said, opening the door and making my way out it.

"Hello, Y/N".

"Y-Yashiro?" I looked at her in shock. "Don't you hate me? What do you want?" I turned my look to stern, trying to keep my ground.

"You can't go to meet Tsukasa and Hanako".

"What, why not? And how do you know this?". I eyed her; what does she know?

"This world... it's a fake one. They created this so they could have you. If you go with them... you'll meet your other self".

"What're you talking about? Yashiro, explain!".

"Promise me you won't! If you touch your other self, you'll disappear".

Other self..? What was she saying all of a sudden?

"Only me and you realise the difference between this world and the real one. Only we are the real Yashiro Nene and Y/N L/N. Trust me on this..!". She grabbed my hand suddenly.

"I know you have no right to be nice to me, but something bad is going to happen! I want to live normally, not in a fake world! I need your help to do it... please listen".

I couldn't believe this sudden amount of knowledge I had been exposed to. I was still so confused. A fake world..?

But I wanted things to go back to normal. I wanted to go see Hanako, and see Tsukasa... and for them both to be so happy to see me like usual.

I wanted to see Sakura and spend time with her, and talk about how much Natsuhiko tries to impress her.

I want to clean the toilets with Kou... well, maybe not clean, but I want things to go back.

"Alright. Tell me everything."
