Chapter 13 - The Past I Never Knew

I turned to look at the voice as fast as I could.

"H-Hanako?!".

{ Y/N's POV }

"W-What're you..."

I didn't even get to finish my sentence. The flashbacks were already happening.

Our kiss, my lies, his hurt face...

"Y/N... I wanted to apologise to you. I don't hate you".

I couldn't stop myself. The tears began falling, and I looked up at him with a sad smile, my eyes watering.

"Hanako, don't apologise. It's my fault. I ruined it all, didn't I?".

"No, Y/N. Don't say that. You didn't".

"But I did! Look how everything has turned out..."

Hanako frowned, coming close to me and hugging me tightly.

"Just calm down, and then you can tell me everything. The truth".

I nodded, and we both sat down on the floor, hugging still.

I told him everything. About all the lies I had told him, and then I revealed the truth behind them.

"I'm so sorry Hanako... about everything. I didn't mean for this to happen".

I hugged him tighter, sobbing into his shoulder.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!".

"Shhh, don't worry... I'm here, it's alright". He patted my head and rubbed my back, soothing me.

"Don't cry, Y/N".

I sniffed, pulling away to look at him. He was smiling slightly, sadness in his eyes. Was he sad because I was?

"Y/N... there's actually something I've been meaning to tell you, too". He looked away, seeming unsure about something. "It'll explain something important".

"What is it, Hanako?" I asked him.

"Come with me". He stood up, taking my arm and guiding me up with him. He took my hand, and led me back into the school building.

"W-Where are we going?" I asked him.

He said nothing, taking me into a classroom and sitting me down in a random chair. "Stay here, and don't leave the room, okay? I'll come back soon..."

He left in a hurry, flashing me a slight smile as he left. Guess I'll just wait here... alone...

What was he going to do anyway? I thought he was going to show me something?

"What is that thing you always carry in your bag? You never let anyone see..."

"Shhh. I'll show it to you. Let's go into our class for now, okay? Since no one else is here yet".

I jumped a little, as a boy and a girl - a year older than me, they seemed - entered the class room.

I blushed, a little embarrassed. "Oh, hello. S-sorry-"

"So, will you show me now? After all no one is here" that was the girl talking, a grin on her face.

She looked beautiful. Her hair colour was very similar to mine, and I smiled.

"I don't mean to interrupt.." I stood up and moved a little closer to them, though they didn't even glance at me.

The boy blushed a little and rushed to take off his bag. "I'll show you".

Were they ignoring me?

"Excuse me," I tried to tap the girl, through my hand just slipped right through her.

W-what?! I gasped and stood back a little. That felt cold!

"This". The boy took out an exorcist staff from his bag, and expanded it to its rightful size.

An exorcist?

"Akira! You're an exorcist?".

Akira? Akira.

"Mei... please don't tell anyone".

"I would never". The girl leaned over and hugged the boy tightly.

"I love you".

Oh no... oh no...

These names...

My legs began shaking. I fell back, onto a desk, and some papers fell onto the floor.

"This is..."

My eyes stretched wide and I covered my mouth. This was hidden from me all this time... my whole life...

The figures disappeared, turning to mist and fading away. I stood frozen, my mind processing what just happened.

"You see, Y/N". I looked to the side quickly, Hanako's voice brining me back from my thoughts.

"Was that..?"

"Yes. It was your parents, from the past. You came from a family of exorcists".
