Ch.12 Mikan's despair

~Y/n pov~

"Ahem! Now then, let's start with a basic explanation of the class trial. During the trial you'll present your arguments for who the culprit is, and vote for 'whodunnit' . Vote correctly, and only the blackened will be punished. But if you pick the wrong person.... I'll punish everyone 'besides' the blackened."Monokuma explained, "Now without further ado, let's begin!"

"When I found the body, I headed to the motel." Hajime told us.

"Why the motel?" Nagito asked.

"It was closer to the music venue." Hajime stated.

"When we got there, the door wouldn't open." Fuyuhiko commented, "So we had to force it open."

"How do I know anything Hajime said is true?" Nagito interjected, "You were the first one to see the body, right?"

"Lie...why would I lie?" Hajime asked, shocked.

Nagito grinned, "Prove it to me. Prove you're not the killer!"

"If the door was locked from the inside, the killer couldn't have left." Sonia stated.

Fuyhiko agreed, "That's true. Which means...when we broke down the venue door, the killer was still inside."

"Couldn't the door have been sealed from the outside too?" I asked.

"Huh? How?"

"Chiaki put the substance on the door in her mouth...it was glue, right?" I explained.

Chiaki nodded, "That's right. They could've glued the door shut from the outside."

"I didn't know glue was edible!" Akane exclaimed.

Sonia smiled, "It is not something one would typically eat."

"Isn't it possible that Ibuki killed Hiyoko and then committed suicide?" Nagito asked.

"That's impossible." Kazuichi stated.

"She had the despair disease. So she could've done it."

"No. The killer had to be alive to unwrap Hiyoko's body." Chiaki explained.

Mikan, you're the killer...aren't you?" Hajime accused.

"Eeek!" She shrieked, "Um...W-what are you talking about?"

"Don't you think it's impossible?" Akane asked.

"S-she's right." Mikan agreed, "A clumsy, slowpoke like me killing someone..? That's completely out of the question!"

"But, we're the only ones..." Hajime muttered.

"I-it's just a coincidence!" Mikan cried, "what are you saying? I-I'm the killer?"

Mikan burst into tears, telling us how it was impossible for her to be the killer.

"Actually, there is one thing I've noticed that proves who the killer is." Nagito stated.

"What's that?" Fuyuhiko asked.

"Are you talking about the way the rope looked?" I asked.
