Megan's view

A Sensation of Sincerity

The autumn trees blew a steady warm breeze kissing my cheeks goodbye. I looked up at the sunset, colors of pink, orange, and red came together as it splashed with a dim yellow which would soon be nothing but black and blue with gleaming stars.

I shut my book, put it down and sighed, the sound of talk and laughter while heavy footsteps rushing by filled my ears. I was no longer alone in a place that sounded perfect.

I looked around, still the same picture I always see; giggling girls coming from the stained yellow bathroom , crowds of kids standing by the rusty teal  lockers, and kids sitting on the stairs and benches talking or studying in silence, the normal everyday scenery.

I leaned back against the brick wall and looked at the ceiling. I should probably see what class I am supposed to head to. Pain trickled down my back when I moved. I grabbed my backpack and unzipping it, and grabbed my binder and looked at the front where I had put my schedule just in case I got lost. First period... P.E. with Miss Bentley. Locker 1224, go right to 6, then go left to 8, and then go right again to 10.

'Ughhh,' I thought. I have P.E first thing in the morning, I get to stink of sweat all day. I put my binder back in my backpack and shoved my book in as well as I stood up, not even bothering to zip it up. I started to walk when every got blurry and spin, then suddenly I felt a strong arm on me holding me up. I looked up to see grassy green eyes staring at me.

"You ok?" His voice sounded strong and deep yet soft and sweet, sending chills down my arms.

"Umm, yeah. I'm fine thanks." I tried to stand, but my legs wouldn't move. His grip tightened and he helped me up a little more.

"Here sit." I sat breathing as if I had been running for miles. I closed my eyes for a moment, feeling his worrying stare when something quick flash through my head. I opened my eyes quick, not knowing what had happened,

"What?!" The boy quickly said in surprise. I must have scared him.

"Sorry, it... was nothing, don't worry," I forced a smile out, trying to play it cool. He smiled and put his hand out as he stood up.

"Hi, my name's Blake," I looked at his hand for a moment remembering his warm touch holding me up, I took it.

"Hi, my name's Megan," He smiled showing his teeth they were white and straight, then his eyes were big and bright; not to mention they looked greener than a forest itself. His figure was slim but buff and stable from what I could feel from when he was holding me up. His hair was blond and curved over to the side. I looked down at my hand that was still holding his and quickly let go, feeling my face get hot.

"Th...Thanks," I said quietly then continued, "for helping me."

"Yeah, are you ok? You didn't look too good." A little giggle slipped through my mouth.

"Yeah, not sure what happened." I responded quickly.

"That's good," He chuckled out with a smile. I got up and tucked my hair behind my ear.

"Well thanks again," I said with a half grin.

"No problem, you must be new?" He questioned me. I gasped a bit.

"How did you know?" I asked him.

"Easy," He said with a crooked smile. "You have that new kid smell," He said with a slight tilt to his head.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I questioned him with a giggle. He just smiled and changed the topic.

"What class are you going to?" He asked me, watching me in interest.
