"I told you Stan, it's not my cup of tea," says Louis, absolutely frustrated. He looks down at the boy holding a ring, disgusted. "Why don't you understand?" They had met only few months ago and here is Stan, on his knees holding out a ring. Louis never expected this. This was exactly why he hated making new friends. It all seemed ridiculous, how could you fall in love with someone you barely knew?
Stan looked devastated, "B-but we've known each other for a while now...and we are pretty good frien-" "And your point being? If we're good friends, then why bring in love? Have I ever showed you any indication that I love you? Tell me? Have I?" "No, but-" "Then why did you even think of this, Stan?" "The very moment I saw you, exactly two months ago, I fell in love with you, Lou..." "Don't Lou me! If I had known, I would never have befriended you...Now if you excuse me, I don't wish to see you ever again. Goodbye, Stan."
He left without another word. Louis looked around the cafeteria, did anybody notice them? He didn't know or at least didn't care. He hadn't done anything wrong after all, had he? He was never in love or was never attracted towards Stan. He had always thought of him as a friend, nothing more.
As he continued moving ahead, he saw Liam approaching him. "Hey mate! Why did Stan take you away in such a hurry? Is everything alright?" Liam asked, concerned. "Yup! Everything is fine, obviously." He lied knowing it was hard to hide things from Liam. "Don't lie to me Tommo, your face is telling me something's definitely wrong... What is it?" Louis gave in, finally, "He asked me out... with a ring."
"What the fuck?! I really never thought-Wait... What did you tell him?" "No, of course! You don't think I did the wrong thing, do you?" Louis asked. "Buddy, if you think what you did is right, then it is. You know I will always support you..." Liam answered almost immediately. Louis loved Liam. Whatever happened, he would never hate him or leave him alone. He was so glad he had Liam in his life. "Thank you, Liam." "For what buddy?" he asked, confused. "For always being there for me... Without you, I-" "It's nothing mate... After all that you've been through-" "I don't want to talk about that, Li. I am trying so hard to forget it." I cut him. "Okay Louis. You know I'm here for you." Liam said.
Louis just smiled. It was funny how things never changed between them. After that one dark day, when he was exposed, all his friends had left him. It was only Liam who never left his side. Helped him in his tough days, laughed with him in his good days. It's been so long, three years, but they've never left each other. After all, they have known each other for 15 years now. No wonder Liam understands Louis like no one else.
"Fine then Liam, I guess I should get going... Mrs. Smith would surely sue me if I am late for class." Louis told him. "Oh shit, I lost track of time... Even I got to go, I have music class right now... Enjoy French, see ya later!" he said and started running towards his class. Louis laughed. Nobody in this entire university was as punctual as Liam.
He dragged his legs towards his French class, other end of the campus. He never enjoyed French, why did he have to learn another language when he already knew English? Ughh... All thanks to his sister, Lottie Tomlinson, who said it would help him if he moved out of UK. He had lost count of the number of times he had told he won't be moving out of UK. But who could win an argument with the great Miss Charlotte Tomlinson? Definitely not him.
He enters his class, sulking. Mrs. Smith obviously notices Louis entering, "Mr. Tomlinson! Why are you 15 minutes late?" Louis turns around, "I came a bit late to Uni today..." "And why is that?", she demands. "My mum's ill, I had to take her to the hospital. I am sorry." He lies. No way was he going to tell her the morning's incident. "Okay, fair enough. But if you repeat it, you know the consequences, don't you?" "Yes ma'am. It won't happen again."
He takes a seat in the last row. He was glad all the front seats were taken and only the behind ones were vacant. He never liked sitting in the front rows, compelled to listen to the teacher's silly lectures. He starts his usual job in class- dreaming about who would be chosen the captain of this year's football team. He had been one ever since he had joined this University 2 years ago, and was almost sure he would be chosen this year too.

His thoughts were interrupted by the sharp ring of the bell. He hopped out of his seat, jogging out of his class since he had a free period. Halfway through the corridors he met Liam, running towards him.
"Hey mate! I can see you had a productive French class?" "What? I was just wondering about the football team this year..." "Yup, I know. You have drool on the corner of your mouth." Louis wiped it off with his shirt's sleeve. "Fine now? How was your music class?"
"It was amazing! Today there was a newbie, some Styles. It seems he was some really good singer in his school." Liam said. "Oh, right. What do you have now? I am free for an hour." "Same here. What do you say, we go buy something from the cafeteria?" "Yeah let's go, I skipped breakfast today, I'm starving."
