I didn't understand how I still felt sparks as his fingers grazed my chest and he deftly slipped the button into the hole.

"I can do that myself," I said softly, staring up at those deep blue eyes, his hair still wet but neatly brushed.

"I know," His deep voice replied as he continued fixing my shirt. I clicked my tongue at him, looking away. Bastard. He slipped my jacket around my shoulders, the grey fabric missing the wings of freedom.

"I don't want to see you in uniform again until your cleared, understood?" A warning fire in his voice, he cupped his large hand around my face and made me look up at him.

"Yes, sir." I replied, dropping my gaze quickly.

"Your so pretty," He mused, more to himself than anyone else as he traced by bottom lip with his thumb. I leaned into his touch, and he smiled down at me which lit up those bright eyes. I kissed him softly, almost teasingly and bit his bottom lip gently and I could feel his soft chuckle. I felt so at home with him.

"Any idea why there is fucking Titans in the wall?" I asked a little while later, the question brought us both crashing back down to reality and I could see the commander in him return. He furrowed his brows and his eyes swam with unanswerable questions.

"No. For now we've covered it with sheets. As I understand, Hanje believes the church may have something to do with it. She's looking into it." He replied, shrugging on his jacket and flicking through reports as he leaned against his desk. I let out a slight click of my tongue, I'm sure shitty glasses would get the answers we needed but I resented being useless none the less.

"I'm going to go make sure Yeager hasn't shit himself," I said curtly heading towards the door. I paused at the door with my hand on the cool handle and tilted my head back to look at him. He was leant against the large wall windows as he skim read reports, the early morning light making his hair shine like ripe corn and I let a small genuine smile take my face as I left, closing the door firmly behind me.

I walked quickly to the infirmary rooms where they had dumped Eren and the other injured scouts, close enough to keep an eye on us. A scout with his an arm in a sling sent me a nod in place of a salute and I returned it curtly, I wondered if it would heal.

"Cadet? Do you know where Yeager is?" I asked, realising I wasn't entirely sure which of the identical doors the brat was behind.

"Two doors down on the left Captain," the cadet replied. I sent him another curt nod and paused outside of Yeagers room, I knocked sharply twice before entering.

The room was bright, lit up with the early morning sun peeking through the large windows. Eren was propped up on some pillows, his head wrapped in bandages and Mikasa his ever present guard dog was sat next to him clutching a dark red scarf. He was asleep, still regenerating like a lizard I guessed.

"Has he been up yet?" I asked Ackerman leaning against the wall and observing the boy, he looked fine but I imagine the injuries must've taken a toll on his body.

"Not yet, sir." She replied quietly, her grip tightening on the scarf.

"He'll be okay." I assured firmly, she nodded but never once took her eyes off the sleeping boy. She was clearly worried about him, the connection those two had was strange. Sometimes it was like Eren didn't see how far she'd go for him yet her loyalty was unwavering.

"Have you slept?" I asked a little softer, noticing the tired look in her eyes.

"I won't leave him." She replied firmly, her eyes flicking to me now. The determination in those gun metal grey eyes told me I wasn't going to win this fight.

"I'm not asking you to, but you can't protect him if you fall asleep on job." I pointed out with a nod. A light blush took her face, as it often did when anyone pointed out the way she so obviously felt about Yeager.

"I can rest later, sir." She replied coldly, a venom laced in her tone told me I should go. She was worried about the kid and I was going to be the brunt of her anger if I stuck around.

"Look after him, Ackerman," I said simply before pushing of the wall and leaving the room, her eyes once again trained on Yeager.
