"Erwin," I replied, ignoring the way he made my chest flutter just by speaking my name. He smiled at me softly, a genuine one that lit up the blue in his eyes.
"How's your leg?"
"Fine." I shot back, a little too fast.
"Your going to go to the infirmary, at the very least to have it checked." He informed me sternly.
"Not happening," I rounded on him, shooting him a dark look.
"I'm not being poked and prodded by some old bastard."
"I wasn't asking Captain," He replied taking a step towards me, gently cupping my face with his hand. I leant into his touch almost involuntarily.
"I should've had you go the second we got back, go for me please? Or I'll worry." He asked softly.
"Fine." I relented. His face lit up and mischievous flicker in his eye made me almost groan.
"I knew that'd work," the arrogance practically dripping from his word.
"Watch it eyebrows, or I'll take it back."
"No you won't." No I won't.
"So, what now?" I asked as we looked out over the wall, the cadets flickering torches where too far off to see now.
"Honestly Levi, I'm not sure. I will know but right now I don't." He admitted, a passion missing from his voice.
We were still reeling from all of these new discoveries and we'd never really had any time to dwell on them. The failed plan to capture the female Titan, uncovering her identity, the battle in Stohess, the bitch cacooning herself and not to mention the fucking titan we'd found in the wall. Before we'd had time to deal with that there was Titans in Wall Rose. All in the space of just a couple of weeks. How were we supposed to handle it? There were so many unknowns.
"We'll figure it out Erwin." I assured, we would, I just didn't know how yet.
"In the morning, will you return to Stohess? I'll send a scout with you. Go to the infirmary first, get your leg checked over. Then will you check on Lionheart? I plan to move her somewhere more secure when we've got a better grasp on things but for now just check that the appropriate measures are in place." He instructed.
"I'll go, but I don't want a babysitter. Leave the scout here." I replied, staring out over blanket of dark trees, the sky just starting to lighten again.
"I figured you'd say that."
"What about you?" I asked, I didn't entirely want to leave him so soon. It felt wrong.
"I'll stay here for now, try and make sense of everything. I'll return to Stohess in a day or two, the MPs will be calling for my head soon enough." He replied softly, his voice sounded far away.
"Hey," I soothed softly, reaching up to stroke his face. He looked down at me, those blue eyes of his faded.
"It can wait a couple of hours, stay with me before I leave?" I asked gently, he needed time to heal. He smiled down at me softly and put his hands on my hips and gently pulled me towards him. We kissed softly, the type of kiss that makes you feel unsteady.
"Come on, you better at least try and get some rest before you leave." He said, hand slipping into mine. I rolled my eyes but didn't protest.
"Yes, sir," I replied, dripping in sarcasm.
