H:
If I said I wasn't pissed, I'd be lying.
I knew Lauren was just trying to be nice, she didn't deserve to be on the receiving end of my attitude. I just didn't know how to apologize without explaining the whole situation, and I don't plan on doing that...
I had finally gotten my office set up, thanks to help from Louis. The room smelled mildly of mold and dust, but made up for the size
It was significantly bigger than my office at U3. The walls were made of black marble, with red concrete floors. An interesting architectural design, considering I was on the 7th floor. There was a black leather couch, with a small TV on the wall opposite.
My desk was made of dark oak wood and held 17 drawers, Louis had found an old lamp somewhere that was perched on my desk.
I was lounging on the leather couch when I got a text from Camila
Camila:
How are you handling?I sighed, and put my phone face down. I waited for a minute, before finally responding.
Better
it was a lie, but I didn't want to bother Camila, she had enough to worry about in the medical world.
As if I was being spied on, Simon sent me a text.
Simon:
Level 9, last room on the right. Be there in 5I grunted and got up from the comfy couch, and made my way up to the elevator, where I bumped into Camila.
"Did Simon text you too?" She asked, tilting her head
"Yeah," I spoke, trying to keep a steady voice "He did."
Camila nodded, before smiling softly.
"I'm sorry you got pulled into all of this."
"Yeah, me too."
The elevator dinged, and we strutted out onto the floor, and into the well-lit room, a surprising change, considering the rest of the building had the light of a medieval castle.
Simon was leaned over the table, with a shell of a pen in his hand. He looked up when he noticed we were here. Wiping the blood running from his nose, he smiled and sat down.
"What's up?" Camila spoke, unbothered by Simon's behavior.
"New mission, uh, just easy shit, but you guys were so effective at the last one, so I thought I'd just pair you again."
He handed us a white file, covered in his blood.
"Sorry about that." He sighed, gesturing to the blood.
"Sleeping trouble, or pleasure?" I asked, raising my eyebrow
"A bit of both..."
I gave a small smile to try and soothe his anxious soul and looked over Camila's shoulder to review the case.
Simon was right, it was an easy drop.
We were supplying S1's main office with new weapons. According to the request, the old guns had been jamming and misfiring. The report that we ran on them showed defective weapons.
I skimmed the rest of the file, before stopping at the location. I felt a pinging feeling in my stomach, and my heart began to beat faster than I thought possible
