I walked in, only to be greeted by nice people. One of them looked around my age. He was wielding a MP40 submachine gun. The older guns seem to be common, considering the Russians were probably using these weapons...somehow. The kid walked up to me and said, "So are you new around here, chuvak". I was puzzled, I questioned, "What does chu-vak mean" he answered, "It means dude in Russian...yeah my Dad learned Russian..he was in a couple wars..not a lot though". I said, "Okay". That evening we ate dinner, we had pasta of some kind. It tasted good for the food being down here for a long time. Later that night, I shared a bunk bed with the kid, his name was Jacob. So as soon as the next morning came we heard screaming, I thought someone was being attacked but then it was just children playing around. Jacob and I went to ask his Dad to go find some resources, that was the only fun we had down here in the metro we call home. We walked to the Overseer, his Dad, and he asked, "Hey Dad, can we go looking for...stuff? he replied, "Yes but be careful". We nodded. We then walked outside and Jacob asked, "Hey do you want to go shoot targets" I replied, "Yeah sure I'm up for it". He walked faster and went into a maintenance room, then asked, "Is this where you grew up at? he replied, "Yeah'. There were paper targets, and over adjacent to me there was glass covering a room, I peered inside and an spider/scorpion thing jumped at the glass. Jacob stated, "We shoot those things for fun". I thought why would we shoot these things, first of all we never did anything to them, secondly they could escape and harm the camp. Jacob went over to the range and was in a ready position, he said, "Hey...chuvak...I mean dude come over here and start shooting". I went over there and stood in a ready stance. We shot a couple of these "spider monkeys" and one just happened to jump at me and I shot. He flew back and hit the glass, it cracked, it looked like it was a vulnerable spot for them to get out. He said, "Don't worry they won't break it". I whispered, "I hope not...". We shot a few and we decided to leave. Right as we walked out the glass shattered. Jacob ran away, and gripped the door so it slammed shut. I took my AK and turned my flashlight on, they were everywhere. There was no way I could get out. I stood my own, then suddenly two of them tackled me. I took out my knife and stabbed one of them in the chest, I looked over there were a lot more, they seem pissed. I shouted, "HELP I'M IN TROUBLE!" I was thinking I was food for these animals, immediately, when I doubted someone was going to find me, The door slammed open, it was Alyssa, she had my flamethrower at the ready, she fired it. All the "spider monkeys" fell off me. I was breathing really hard and then I said, "Thanks, you saved me". She replied with hate, "Yeah because your stupid ass!" I stated again, "Thank you, Alyssa"

"I said you're welcome!"

She also commented, "Who was the kid who you were hanging out with?" I responded, "His names Jacob" Alyssa asked with a threatening voice "Do you want me to burn you with this?"

"No..."

"Then stay away from him". After we got back to the camp, I went back to the camp and immediately went to Jacob. I asked in a hateful voice, "Why the hell did you leave me back there?" he replied "I went to get help"

"GET HELP, WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO DO THAT, YOU HAD A GUN IN YOUR AND THE WHOLE TIME!"

Jacob hesitated, "Well...You suck at shooting"

"So you left me there!?"

"In this case, yes". He was smudged, I wanted to knock that grin right off his face, the only problem was, his Dad was the Overseer, speaking of the devil, the Overseer came up to me with a furious voice, "UNBELIEVABLE! Why did you let them out, vy tupaya suka!

Immediately Jacob stated, "He says your a stupid bitch!" I replied in anger, "I know how to speak English dumbass!"

"Umm...technically that wasn't just English...it..was..Russian..." I shook my head in exasperation. This kid was unbelievably annoying. Then I asserted to the Overseer, "Sir, listen it wasn't me, it was you're foolish son".

" He is a good boy, he would never do a thing like that"

"Well, he did shut the door on me and never came back" My Dad came over and asked in irritation, " Why are you picking on my son?"

The Overseer responded, "You're stupid son, broke the glass in the shooting range. My Dad was puzzled, "What shooting range?". He responded in Russian, "Vy glupyye glupyye lyudi , ne udivitel'no, pochemu vy, rebyata, puteshestvenniki , vy, lyudi ne razdrazhayut !"

My Dad and I were shocked, although we had no idea what he said, considering the fact we don't speak Russian. The Overseer was mad that night after that, we all went to bed, I heard the Overseer talking about plan two. That night, was the most awkward night in my life.

Chapter 10- Mad as Hell

The day after, Alyssa and I woke up in our shacks and headed to the middle of the camp to eat breakfast, when we arrived the only thing there was is cake, that brought back good memories, I started trying not to laugh, " Try not to go head first into the cake this time". She looked at me in a forceful manner, "Would you like to go head first into the cake?" I didn't answer, then she continued, "Thats what I thought". When we sat down, my "archenemy" sat down right next to me. He stated to Alyssa, "So where did you come from, the garbage"

Alyssa was enraged, "YOU BETTER NOT SAY THAT AGAIN OR I WILL SHOVE THIS FORK DOWN YOUR THROAT!" she was gripping the fork tightly, to where to fork bent due to her anger. I told her, "Please, calm down, don't make a scene". She said with anger, "Do you want to get hurt too!" I blinked and sat there in shock, "No..no..I'm sorry". She whispered through her gritted teeth, "You better be...trust me its been a long couple days!" Later that evening Alyssa and I went back to our separate bunk beds, as soon as we sat down she stated in pessimistic tone, "Listen Jordan I'm sorry I never meant to freak out at you,its just its been a long few years...you know...since the war, the other kid though, that..was what led me to my breaking point". I answered back, "Its okay..I'm not mad at you I was more in shock!" She chuckled."It was kinda funny to see you scared like that". We sat there that morning talking.
