It was a couple of days before the ball, in other words also the day after the first time we formally hung out after school, and you had already successfully convinced me to go dress-shopping with you for the upcoming ball. It took you some time, but eventually I decided that it wouldn't hurt anyone to go on a quick shopping spree. It's not like that my life would be ending because of it only because I unfortunately wasn't interested in dresses over all and let alone I wasn't even going to the ball.
"Yes the fuck you are." You burst out as I tell you the news.
"What do you mean yes? No I'm not!" I exclaimed as we were now on the escalator on our way to the second story of the mall.
"Yes you are going to the ball. I will not let you sit at home and be alone all night for no fucking reason." You stated. "Although, why would you not be going?" I tensed at your question before my sight was soon as if glued to the ground beneath us. Suddenly, you burst out in uncontrollable laughter.
"Quiet down! You're embarrassing us." I said, shushing you. "What the fuck is so funny?" Almost laughing along with you at this point because your laugh was somehow incredibly funny.
"You-..." you said in between laughs. "You... you don't have a date, do you?"
"Of course I do! I just-" I cut myself off, realizing that you had caught onto my lie and knew the truth, and I wouldn't be able to convince you otherwise. "Okay maybe I don't- but I didn't want to go anyways!"
"Yeah okay let's pretend that's the reason you're not going." You said as we stumbled off the escalator and towards the unknown dress store you were bringing me towards.
"You're a bitch."
"At least I'm not a lonely one." You responded, making me gasp in surprise before my jaw hung agape.
"Excuse me?! That hurt!"
"Only lonely bitches get hurt by sarcasm. Thank you for reassuring me that my theory is correct." You had such a way with words sometimes. I found myself wondering how your mind could come up with so creative things to say pretty much constantly, but I guess you were just a talking genius.
"Hi! Can I help you with anything today?" An older female asked as we walked into the store we had been searching for for the past half hour.
"Uh- not right now, just browsing. Thank you though!" You said kindly. I flashed the lady an awkward smile before we went over to one of the many hangers of different dresses. I wasn't one for dresses, and had never really been dress-shopping before either, so I didn't really know what there was to expect, but what I had imagined was for sure not this. But you looked happy, so I just contently watched as you admired piece after piece.
"Tommy! What about this one? I think it's cute." You asked excitedly. It was now an hour or so later. You had shown me a couple of dresses already, but you were right, this one was in fact very pretty, and it caught my eyes like no other.
"I- I love that one! Go try it on." I stuttered. You happily squealed in excitement before you ran away into one of the changing rooms as I was staring at my phone, waiting for you to reveal the pieces you wore it. I tried keeping my mind locked onto the tik toks I was watching, but my mind just couldn't stop trying to imagine how you would look in the gown.
"Should we go?" I jumped as you were now suddenly standing in front of me, looking down at me with a smile plastered on your lips.
"Shit- what?" I whined, disappointed that she didn't reveal herself in it. "No try on haul?"
