1x22: Founders' Day

Vanessa woke up in the early hours of 2.30am in the morning to the sound of her daughter crying. She immediately got up, leaving Henrik fast asleep in the bed, and ran into the nursery attached to her room to find her 4 month old daughter sat up, with her cheeks a bright red colour, covered in spots.

Quickly, Vanessa picked up Zara and tried to soothe her, whilst looking though the draws in the new room for a temperature gun. Finally finding it, she turned it on, and sat in the rocking chair before pointing the tool at her daughter's head.

"Shit!" She whispered as she read the reading on the gun. It read 38.4°C. "It's okay, baby. It's okay, shhhh." She soothed, pulling Zara into her chest.

Vanessa quickly stood up and headed straight into her bedroom again, soothing Zara by rubbing her back in a loving and caring way. She saw Henrik beginning to sir as she walked into the room with a crying baby.

"Ness?" He questioned in a tired voice. "What's wrong? Is Zara okay?"

Vanessa held her daughter closer to her, rubbing her back still, whilst soothing her. 

"I don't know. I woke up to her crying and found her covered in spots, with a high fever." She said, frantically.

Vanessa hated her daughter sounding in so much pain, and almost cried just hearing the cries of distress from the baby girl. Henrik sat up instantly, and switched the bedside light on. He immediately woke up as soon as he heard there was something wrong with his daughter. 

"Okay, let's go." He said, throwing the covers back off of him. "We'll go to the hospital. I'll wake your brother to take us, you get yourself dressed." Henrik stood up, and turned around to see Vanessa holding Zara close to her. He moved close to her and put his hands on her arms. "Don't worry, Princess. She's going to be fine."

Nodding her head, Vanessa brushed away her tears before any more could fall. She headed for her closet, but not before placing Zara in the middle of her bed, safe from falling off the edge. She threw on some comfy clothes, before tying her hair into a messy bun.

Vanessa picked up Zara again, before heading back into her nursery to change her nappy and pyjamas into  some loose clothing before making sure she had everything she would need and placed the changing bag onto her shoulder.
