Inside the Forbes household, both Henrik and Vanessa were spending a bit of time together. They had dropped Zara off at Harriet's house earlier that day so the two could have a bit of a day date with one another.

Liz was carrying some boxes towards the front door of the house when Caroline walked out of her bedroom and looked at her mother. She crossed her arms over her chest and began to walk closer to her mother.

"Are you off today?" The blonde vampire asked.

The two of the Forbes women had barely spent any time with one another. Liz was always working, either as the Sherriff of Mystic Falls or helping the council get the vampires all rounded up. This made Caroline and Vanessa quite cautious with one another.

Liz looked up and smiled lightly at her daughter, standing up straight. "The Historical Society Volunteer Picnic is today. You're the one who signed me up."

"I know." Caroline nodded her head. "I just assumed you'd bale."

Both Henrik and Vanessa stood up from the couch and moved to the doorway of the living area. Vanessa stood in front of her mate, whilst he wrapped his arms around her waist and leaned his chin on her shoulder.

"No." Liz shook her head. "I'm gonna spend the whole day with my daughter and my niece."

Caroline looked towards Vanessa with a look that portrayed a 'really?' look. Vanessa just shook her head, pleading her cousin to leave it with her eyes without saying anything. However, the blonde didn't seem to get the message, or she did, but didn't care.

"You're gonna pretend to be a mother and aunt?" Caroline spoke, looking back at her mother.

Liz sighed. She knew where Caroline was coming from and she felt bad that her daughter felt that way about her. The Sherriff knew that she had buried herself in work and she didn't realise the effect it had on Caroline and Vanessa.

"I'll bring my gun if it gets rough." Liz joked, but Caroline's face didn't change. "Come on, give me one day. I've been buried in work mode, I've barely seen you."

Caroline looked towards Vanessa, who held a tired look on her face as she leant up against Henrik. She didn't want neither her cousin and her aunt to argue like they were, but she didn't know how to stop it. When the brunette saw her cousin looking at her, she just sighed and held pleading eyes to her.

The blonde vampire turned back and faced her mother, sighing. "Well be warned, I'm in a mood."

"Goody for me." Liz spoke sarcastically.

Vanessa and Henrik watched as Caroline turned around and began to walk towards her room, when Liz's voice stopped her in her tracks, confusing everyone in the house.

"What was Elena doing here so late last night?"

Vanessa turned to face her cousin, frowning. She had no idea that Elena was in the house last night; if the doppelganger was, then why didn't see know about it. Caroline turned back around confused.
