With beads of sweat racing down his face, Nishikata finally managed to grasp the gravity of the situation he had found himself in. If word of his strange behavior got out, the school rumor mill would be working overtime crucifying him over his actions. His thought process was briefly interrupted by the bell reminding him that it was time for homeroom, so he started to make his way back to his class.
Arriving quickly, he slid open the door, surveying the room quickly to see if there was any indication as to who had seen him. He cautiously made his way over to his desk, wary not to act in any way that would make him seem suspicious. It seemed that he failed, however, as when he finally sat down, head pointed downward, he saw a shadow approaching his desk. Apprehension setting in, he looked up and faced the person who was approaching him. It was her.
"Hey Nishikata". "H-hey T-takagi-san". Nishikata tried with all of his might to stop the blood from rushing to his face, but his efforts were in vein. The slight red-tint of his cheeks did not go unnoticed by the girl he was facing.
On the opposite side of the room, another girl was thinking with an intensity she had rarely ever had. Akari still couldn't believe what she had seen Nishikata doing earlier that day. There was something about what he was doing that made her feel anxious and angry, and she hoped that the reason for this wasn't the one she had been thinking of. If it was, then she would be in big trouble. She was taken out of her thoughts by the entrance of her homeroom teacher, and the entire class settled down back into their seats.
"So class, it is time for us to discuss the upcoming class trip." This announcement sent ripples of excitement throughout the entire class, but Nishikata wasn't even slightly perturbed. He knew that the class trip was coming up, but he wasn't too bothered by it. Instead, he was fully focused on the letter he had put into her locker, and what it had said. He hadn't included his name, simply a set of instructions for the person to follow. If they followed it, then by the end of the day Nishikata would either be the happiest man alive, or he would be reconsidering his life choices.
Thinking about what she had seen that morning, Akari unconsciously looked over at Nishikata and she realized something. Their classes shoe lockers were all in the same row, and she had hidden before she had seen whose locker the letter had been put into. A question arose in her head.
"Who did Nishikata give the letter to?"
