An alarm clock goes off waking Rose up and she turns it off. "There's no point in getting up sweetheart. You've got no job to go to," Jackie yells to Rose reminding her what took place the day before. Too awake to go back to sleep Rose gets up and walks towards the kitchen. "There's Finch's. You could try them. They've always got jobs," Jackie suggests. "Oh, great. The butcher's." "Well it might do you some good. That shop has given you airs and graces. And I'm not joking about compensation. You've had genuine shock and trauma. Arianna got 2,000 quid off the Council just cause the old man behind the desk said she looked Greek. And I know she is Greek, but that's not the point. It was a valid claim," Jackie rambles on as Rose walks away. Hearing a noise come from the cat flap on their door she goes to investigate. "Mum, you're such a liar. I told you to nail that cat flap down. We're going to get strays." "I did that weeks back!" "No. You thought about it." She kneels down to see if there's a cat and sees the Doctor's face. On the other side of the door is the Doctor kneeling down and looking through the now open cat flap and Jane looking annoyed at him. The door opens revealing Rose. "What are you doing here?" The Doctor asks. "I live here!" "Hi Rose," Jane says. "Well, what did you do that for?" the Doctor asks Rose. "Cause I do. I'm only home cause someone blew up my job." "Sorry," Jane says. "I must have the wrong signal. You're not made of plastic, are you?" he says tapping Rose's forehead. "No, bone head. Bye, then," he says turning to leave and looks at Jane. She raises her eyebrows making him stop. "You two, inside. Right now," Rose says pulling them into the flat. "Who is it?" Jackie yells. "See what you did?" the Doctor says too Jane. "And what did I do exactly?" The Doctor looks at her trying to think of an excuse. Seeing him stumped she just gives him a smile. "You'll live," she says. "It's about last night. It's the Parking inquiry. Give us ten minutes." Rose yells. "She deserves compensation," Jackie yells to the Doctor and Jane. Jane walks by while the Doctor stops at her bedroom door. "Oh, we're talking millions!" he says. Jane decides to track back after deducing that was Rose's mom. "Umm, I'm in my dressing gown." "Yes, you are," The Doctor says oblivious to the situation unfolding. "There's a strange man in my bedroom." Jane looks over trying to hold in her laugh. "Yes, there is." "Well anything could happen." Jane bites her lip as the Doctor finally realizes what's happening. "No," he says walking away. "Having a good laugh?" "Just a bit," Jane says as they go to the living room. "Don't mind the mess. Do you two want coffee?" Rose asks making space for them to sit. "No thanks." "Might as well, thanks. Just milk," the Doctor says walking around. "We should go to the police. Seriously," she yells tho the two. The Doctor picks up a magazine saying, "That won't last. He's gay and she's an alien." "I'm not blaming you two. Even if it was some joke just gone wrong." Jane watches him with a small smile being reminded of her Doctor. He picks up a book flips through and says, "Hmm. Sad ending." "Doctor," Jane says trying to catch his attention. "It said on the news they found a body." "Rose Tyler," he says flipping through mail. "Doctor." "Ah! Could've been worse. Look at the ears!" he says taking a look in the mirror making Jane roll her eyes. "He was a nice bloke," Rose continues. The Doctor hums "Luck Be a Lady" and picks up a deck of cards. "Anyway if we do go to the police, I wanna know what I'm saying," Rose says. "Doctor, you're going to make..." The cards fly everywhere. "A mess," Jane says finishing her sentence and glaring at him. "Maybe not," he says. "You think?" They hear a noise and stop. "What's that then?" "Have you got a cat?" Jane asks Rose. "No," Rose responds. With that the plastic arm from before flies up from behind the couch and chokes the Doctor. "We did have, but now we just get strays. They come in off the estate." Jane runs over the Doctor trying to pull it off him. Unsuccessful she lets go and looks for her sonic. Rose comes in seeing it and says, "I told Mickey to chuck that out. You're all the same. Give a man a plastic hand," Rose says. Not able to find it Jane gives pulling the arm another go. "Anyway. I don't even know your name besides Jane's. Doctor what was it?" With one last pull Jane get's the arm to release the Doctor's throat. Rose turns and it goes for her. The two trying to pull it off of Rose's face and fall breaking the table. He sonic's the arm and it stops. "I've stopped it. See," he says tossing the arm to Rose. "Armless," he says with a smile making Jane shake her head. "Do you think?" Rose says hitting him. "I like her," Jane says making Rose smile. The two start to leave and go down the stairs with Rose close behind. "Hold on a minute. You two can't just go swanning off!" she yells. "Yes we can. Here we are swanning off. See ya!" he yells back. "That arm tried to kill me." "Well observed," he says. "Doctor," Jane says trying to get him to stop. "You two can't just walk away. That's not fare. You've got to tell me what's going on." "No, we don't," he says. "We probably should," Jane suggests. "No." "All right then. I'll go to the police. I'll tell everyone. You said if I did that, I'd get people killed. So, your choice. Tell me or I'll start talking." Jane smiles seeing a little of herself in Rose. "Is that supposed to sound tough?" "Sort of," Rose says. "It doesn't work." "Who are you two?" "I told you. I'm the Doctor and she's my friend Jane Smith." "Yeah, but Doctor what?" "Just the Doctor," Jane says. "The Doctor?" "Hello," he says with a wave. "Is that supposed to sound impressive?" she asks. "Sort of." "Come on. You can tell me. I've seen enough are you two the police?" "No! We were just passing through. We're a long way from home." If only he knew just how far and years she was away from her home Jane thought. "But, what have I done wrong? How come those plastic things keep coming after me?" Rose asks. "Oh, suddenly the entire world revolves around you? You were just an accident. You just got in the way, that's all," the Doctor explains. "You're being rude," Jane points out. "It tried to kill me." "It was after us, not you. We where there last night in the shop, you blundered in, almost ruined the whole thing. This morning we were tracking it down, it was tracking us down. The only reason it fixed on you was because you met us.' "So, you're saying the entire world revolves around you two?" Rose asks. "Sort of, yeah." "Speak for yourself," Jane says. "You're full of it!" "Trust me I know he is," Jane says. "Sort of, yeah," he says. "All this plastic stuff-who else knows about it?" "No one." "What, just you two?" "Well, who else is there? I mean you lot, all you do is eat chips, go to bed and watch telly, while all the time underneath you there's a war going on," he says. "Ok," Rose says grabbing his arm. "Start from the beginning. I mean, if we're going with the living plastic-and I don't even believe that-how did you kill it?" Rose asks. "The thing controlling it projects life into the arm. I cut it off. The signal. Dead." "So, that's radio control?" "More like thought control," Jane says. "Are you alright?" the Doctor asks Rose. "Yeah." "I know it's a lot to take in," Jane says. "So who's controlling it, then?" "Long story," he says. "What's it all for? I mean, shop window dummies. What's that about? Is someone trying to take over Britain's shops?" Rose asks making the other two laugh. "No!" "Well no." "It's not a price war," the Doctor says as we stop laughing. "They want to overthrow the human race and destroy you. Do you believe me?" he asks Rose. "No." "But, you're still listening," Jane says. Rose stops but the Doctor and Jane keep walking. "Really, though, Doctor and Jane...tell me. Who are you two?" Rose asks them. We stop and Jane gives the Doctor a worried look as pain flashes in his eyes. The pain of losing Gallifray is still fresh for him. And that just makes Jane wish harder that she could comfort him even more. And the fact that she couldn't made her heart ache. "Do you know like we were saying about the Earth revolving?" he asks walking over to her. "It's like when you're a kid. The first time they tell you that the world's turning, and you just can't believe it cause everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it." He takes Rose's hand. "The turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet spinning at 1,000 miles an hour, and the entire planet hurtling around the sun at 67,000 miles an hour, and I can feel it." His expression changes as he starts to focus on the feeling. Jane puts a hand on his shoulder in an effort to comfort him. "We're falling though space, the three of us..." "Doctor," Jane says concerned. "Clinging to the skin of this tiny little world and if we let go..." He lets go of Rose's hand and puts a hand on Jane's. "That's who we are. Now forget the two of us, Rose Tyler." He picks up the arm and waves it. "Go home."
